Maine Timber Frame Mercedes Garage Build

The roofer/carpenters came to do the roof. Pine shiplap covers the roof followed by 6 inch foam which was then strapped and covered with more shiplap in opposite orientation and finally roofed over with asphalt shingles. Building also gets sheathed.

Maine Timber Frame Mercedes Garage Build

The frame is 24x42 but I framed a 12x20 shed/lean to addition using conventional stick framing. I used hemlock sill followed by 2x6 construction. Yes that is my Mercedes "work truck"!

Maine Timber Frame Mercedes Garage Build

Hi all, I'm on year 6 of this build! The foundation, timber frame and roof were hired out and I've been finishing the rest on my own as time permits, hence the delay! Enjoy!

Building an attached three car garage near Boston

Really nice build and well tied into the existing house! How will you be heating the garage?

    New garage, insulated doors?

It’s insulated. There is 6 inches of foam on the outside of those visible boards on the roof!

    New garage, insulated doors?

I don’t like the fake wood embossed texture. I think it looks cheap.

    New garage, insulated doors?

This might be the solution. Insulated steel door clad in smooth pvc and available in the dark green carriage style that I desire. Not cheap but less expensive than wood! https://www.fimbelads.com/residential-collections/american-legends

    New garage, insulated doors?

The garage is located in midcoast Maine and after all the responses, I’m thinking insulated steel again even though I’m not really keen on the look! Yes, many have told me how important a good seal really is!

    New garage, insulated doors?

Hi John, I’m in midcoast Maine. The local garage door outfit here (PDQ door) quoted me close to 6K for wood overlay doors. I’m planning on painting the doors so the faux wood finish is not of interest to me. The steel doors they showed me had an awful fake looking wood grain texture stamped...

    New garage, insulated doors?

Hi all, I’m on year six of my garage build (many interruptions!) and I’m at the point of needing doors. It is a timber frame building built in barn style and so I’m interested in installing wooden doors as they are more consistent with its design. I’m finding out that insulated wooden doors are...

    Abandoned architectural gem

True but the part of seal harbor where Martha lives is called ox hill. What makes it special is that it is high up on a hill with commanding views of the ocean and rocky cliffs. These properties are mostly not waterfront but it seems like nothing can be bought on ox hill for less than 1.5...

Yes Martha's house is on Skylands drive. The road is unmarked and her house is the only one on the road. The road is her driveway as far as I can tell.

Wish I could. It's a magical place but I can't touch the real estate in that area!
