    Garage organization retail stores.

Will, your comment about someone helping with a design of a garage at the begining of the process made me think of another question. I have design and built more than a dozen homes with some simple software. Is there a software that allows one to see certain garage products in 3-D? It would...

Good posts. Interesting points of view. I know a lot of us dream about having a great looking garage. I guess it boils down to lookers and buyers. Jimmy, If Garage Gear Store is your store, it sounds nice. It looks like you carry a wide range of neat stuff.

Have any of you guys been to one? Ever buy from them? I was in a couple of stores in CA and AZ a few years ago while visiting some relatives. One store in CA had a Cobra kit car in his front display. Of course the car was there to draw people in. It worked - I went in.

    Big-A lawnmower

Scag is one the heaviest and best built commercial ZTR mowers out there. Scag is just about to release their newest ZTR mower designed for homeowners. It is called "FreedomZ". It comes in a 48" or 52" deck. It has to be one of the best built "homeowner" mowers out there. It is still built...

    Big-A lawnmower

I know more about the commercial models than I do about the residential models. I have used all types of commercial mowers (from $1,600 walk behinds to $12,000 big ZTRs) over the past 25 years. The Toro Time cutter looks sharp and is a decent residential mower, but it would not hold up to...

    Big-A lawnmower

Have you considered a zero turn radius mower? Since you have access to granddad's stuff for the big jobs, you might consider 42" to 48" ZTR mower with at least a 18 horse engine (if you go with a rider). These are a blast to drive and really cut down the time spent mowing. The down side is...

I had the misfortune of going in one of their freestanding stores. I had to pick up an item for someone while traveling.

Enclosing underneath a deck to create garage

My neighbor has a walkout lot and did a small 10 X 12 shed under his deck to hold his riding mower and garden stuff. You are on the right track about creating a roof to control the water. One thing to watch for. My neighbor forgot to put in some vents. He had a lot of mold growing on...

    Garage Design Feedback please

Can you bump the second 9' door a little more to the right? Another option (depending on weight needs) is a single post car stacker. This frees up the car space on the right. No post on that side to bump into. Another thought. A 4 post lift would give some future placement options. It's...

4-Post Lifts - Help me decide which ones are quality built.

Several lifts seem to use the same/similar lifting post. I am just talking about the post only. In this specific case I am refering to the channel type of post. Do several companies buy their post from some outside source? I could see a company buying the post and then build it up with...

4-Post Lifts - Help me decide which ones are quality built.

I just got done watching an auction that had two (2) really nice Rotary 12K 4-post lifts. One lift was a 1997 12K unit with 15ft runways. It sold for $2,222. The other lift was a 2003 12K unit with 17ft runways. It sold for $2,610. Both lifts were in good shape. I did not purchase either...

4-Post Lifts - Help me decide which ones are quality built.

In my searches, I noticed that this was one design of lifts - a large square collar that rides over a square tube. The other type of lift that I noticed was the "channel" type. I certainly am not an engineer so I myself have a question as to whether this "collar" design is any better than...

4-Post Lifts - Help me decide which ones are quality built.

OK, it's time to whittle down my list of 4-post lifts some. Between Rotary's Revolution RFP7-XLT and the Gemini GM-7000 XLT , I think I'll keep the Revolution in the mix. It seems better built and has Rotary behind it. Between the Backyard Buddy and the Classic Auto lift, I think I'll keep...

HD9 - What is it worth?

The guy is probably talking about the D-7. That is Bend Pak's 7,000 lb import model (Dannmar) to meet a price point. It goes for $1,895. The HD-9 is shown at $2,540. The HD-9XW is shown at $2,920. What kind of car do you have that has a 144.5" wheel base?

4-Post Lifts - Help me decide which ones are quality built.

There are a couple of things about "customers and service" that I have learned to differentiate over the years. There is the kind of "customer attention" you get before a sale and then there is the more important kind. The "customer service" that you get after a sale. I still remember that...

4-Post Lifts - Help me decide which ones are quality built.

I can't believe that I am going to tell you that I did do a "search". I pulled up a lot of post using "lift" as my key word in the search. I did this in addition to reading this forum over the past 12 months. I even hinted to the fact that I had read previous post when I wrote in my first...

4-Post Lifts - Help me decide which ones are quality built.

Yes, I should add the All American Lifts to my list. They have a similar design as the Back Yard Buddy and the Classic Auto Lift. All three use the "oversized collars that slip over the post" design. Are they truely "made" in the USA or are they assembling import stuff?
