I'm a weekend tinkerer and do more home improvement and woodworking type projects than anything. I try and do everything I possibly can on my own. I'm not much of a mechanic, but am learning more as time goes on doing maintenance and small repairs on our vehicles. I try and buy the best tools I...
My Lowes rebate gift card took 6 weeks. My Dad had one due from a different store and it took 8 weeks for his to arrive.
I hate rebates as well, but always send them in. They don't encourage me to buy an item though. I would rather see a good old fasioned sale!!! Now that gets my attention!!!
Let me add.....I wasn't meaning to imply for you to be hateful or rude about it. That doesn't work. Just drop that little hint to your service manager and walk away. It kind of puts the monkey on his back then because he's not enforcing the rules. Just food for thought.
Does your dealership have a rule that all mechanics furnish their own tools? Its one thing to occasionally borrow tools but if they are doing it consistantly, they arent following company rules and furnishing their own tools. I would approach the service manager and tell him they aren't...
Yep - good deal on the jointer. Ive been wanting one for a while. May have to run in Lowes and check it out. I've had the Delta 12" planer for about 3 years and its a good machine for the money.
I bought very little in March so I need to make up for it in April.:bounce:
Theres a great inside flea market about 45 minutes from where I live. I frequented it quiet a bit this winter. In the summer they have a lot of people set up on the outside as well. I've picked up a bunch of Craftsman wrenches to fill in some sizes I needed and for extras. I average giving 3.00...
I really am happy with my Delta bench top. I don't use it for heavy duty stuff though. Just woodworking.
Deltas customer service is outstanding. A few years ago I bought a Delta Planer. I went to remove the blades and rounded off 3 of the small bolts that pressure fit against them. They were...
I voted Craftsman but have different brands. Im just a weekend tinkerer but I want a decent tool with a lifetime warranty. I like Channellock brand for pliers. I recently bought a Kobalt 1/4 inch drive socket set. First Kobalt Ive ever owned and I'm pretty impressed. All my sockets in my roll...
I bought a set some time ago when they were on sale. Used one recently on a bolt that my brother rounded off on an alternator on his truck. Worked like a charm!!!! The bolt was in there tight and I really expected it to not work. The more pressure I put on it the more it cut into and held on to...
Kleins are great. I have a couple of pair of Linesman pliers and a pair of wire strippers from Klein. My Brother is an electrician and won't use anything but Klein.
Agreed. I have Craftsman pliers that rusted over before I got them home. The Channellock line is hard to beat for me as a weekend tinkerer. USA made, affordable, easy to find on store shelves, and great quality!!!
Same here. Four pawn shops in this small town and they are through the roof on prices on everything, especially tools, and they won't deal either. Its price as marked!! I don't even go check them anymore. I don't understand how they stay in business.
I'm going to buy a set of those. If I decide I don't like the twist, I'll put them in the oven, warm them up, and beat the twist out of them. Maybe 400 degrees for 30 min. :shocking:
