Plumber is being very lazy! There is no reason at all why you couldn't just run the water line like you've said, just tap into the existing line just past the meter and run it to the barn. If it's your property and you know how to do it, just do it yourself. You don't need a license to work...

That's what I was thinking too. Buy all 3, keep one to use, take the compressor off of one and sell the tank (keep compressor for parts) and sell the 3rd one to fund the motor.
