Buying hand tools locally is a crapshoot...

But if you have to go to Lowes or Home Depot or Harbor Freight for a specific tool, what brand name are you looking for first? I'm one of these water/sewage guys that actually uses an adjustable wrench everyday. In the last few weeks, I've bought a Stanley adjustable wrench made in Taiwan, a...

I actually used my 30% off coupon this weekend at Harbor Freight on this since I had no other needs. It's decent on cleaning out the grime on my hand tools.

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

This is probably not the right thread for this, seeing the first few pages were all large boxes, but it is a gray Sears/Craftsman box I've had since I went off to college that my Dad filled with Craftsman wrenches, etc. Probably going to be my next clean up job.

My two JPDs. The Bet'r Grip locks up better than anything I have in modern production.

Picked up this CLC tape holder. Fits my Dad's old Stanley 25 footer well. Now I can carry it at work with a little more security and hopefully not lose it.

    Dunlap tools & boxes

Took my Dad's old Made in Germany Dunlap wrench to work with me today and had some time to do a quick re-furb job. Came out great. Not sure if it was painted originally or someone else did it. My Dad loved flea market finds, so I'm pretty sure he didn't do it but probably paid a buck or two for...

    Question on Stanley wrenches

Well, if they went in house after buying out Proto, I could assume that they were made there. That'll be my guess at least. Again, thanks!

    Question on Stanley wrenches

Sorry, I should have been more specific in saying the one I just bought in the auction above. I'll wager a guess that it would be of the PROTO variety. Again, thanks for the information!

    Question on Stanley wrenches

Thanks again for this. I just ordered one after looking on Ebay yesterday and today and not finding anything else I wanted. I even found a Stanley made in Korea to go along with the other countries I listed in the initial post. So, do we have any idea who was making Stanley USA adjustable...

2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

Hey All, I'm new here and decided to start collecting adjustable wrenches about 2 months ago. I hadn't been to my local flea market in 15 years or more and headed that way yesterday (we only have one in my small town). I don't think I could have struck out worse. First of all, the amount of...

What's everyone's favorite and go to 3/8 ratchet and what's yout favorite tool you ow

I'll add to SK ratchet club. I have one in 3/8 and one in 1/2 and they're the first ones I grab. Favorite tool might be an SK 12" adjustable wrench that was my Dad's. Hard to say, though. I like a lot of different wrenches and ratchets.

    Question on Stanley wrenches

Nope, my dad had the JPD adjustable also, so you were right. I guess I need to snap a pic of it, too. You, my friend, are a wealth of information and I thank you very much.

    Question on Stanley wrenches

On my quest to start an adjustable wrench collection, I was looking online for Stanley wrenches and found numerous samples for sale but none were made in the USA. They were from Taiwan, Japan and Spain. Did they make Stanley adjustable wrenches in the USA?

    Diamond Calk Horseshoe Adjustable Wrench

I just decided to start collecting adjustable wrenches and everything I've read and researched talked about Diamond Calk being one of the best. Picked up my first one today. It's fairly beat up but is in perfect working condition. On to the next USA brand now!

The Klein Tool addiction thread! :)

Probably the only Klein tool I have. I chose it over the Milwaukee because of the bits. I carry it every day and it's been a good tool so far.

Stopped by a little mom and pop hardware store that had a great selection of tools. Picked up these two Stanley's for work. I'm actually extremely impressed with their quality. Much tighter tolerances than some of my other inexpensive wrenches.
