    Die Werkstatt

This is my first VW. Bought it back in 2008 new and have been crazy about it since. I like the mk4 models, they have a great austere kind of look to them. The new jettas and GLIs I'm not so crazy about. Your new Golf is sharp, though. Is the GLI stock, or modded? Are you into any motorsports?

Yeah, after looking at your thread, mine does look maybe 2-3 feet wider. I try to keep it pretty clear on the sides so I can maneuver the floor jack and stands.

The dubs look great! Yeah! Looks like our garages are about the same size. Yours looks really sharp!

Its a single car, about 22' deep and 13' wide. Keeping it clean makes it seem a bit larger...

The DeWalt compressor hasn't let me down. I mostly use it for impact work, never for continuous duty stuff like painting. Thanks guys. Yeah, I like having a computer there too. I thought I could use it for the OBD scanner, but the long USB extension I have makes the scanner not work...

Thanks for the kind words, guys! I've gotten a lot of inspiration from this forum over the past year. I'm working on putting up some cabinets, and building a new workbench. Will post more later!

    Gedore vs Stahlwille for sockets/ratchet?

Hmmm interesting! I hope I never run into that! Without seeing the pics, I'd wonder if somehow the extension was at fault...I don't know how though. I know you posted to get some feedback on Stahlwille vs Gedore, and I got sidetracked a bit. Those three manufacturers are well respected, and...

    Gedore vs Stahlwille for sockets/ratchet?

Sure, in reality the India/Carolus thing is irrelevant if you're sure of what you're buying. It's not logical, other than I wouldn't want to import stuff for top $$ from Germany from a company that is too ******* with consumer level tools. Again not really logical, but when it comes to...

    Gedore vs Stahlwille for sockets/ratchet?

In my experience/opinion, Hazet>Stahwille>Gedore. Lots of guys like Stahlwille here; I think some are turned off of Gedore because of the whole 'made in India' and the Carolus line being made in Taiwan. If you want to know how they compare, you'll probably need to get your hands on some. See...

    found grandpas tools

Pitting can't really be cleaned up. If you just have surface rust, I like using a fiber wheel to clean things up. Finish with a metal polish.
