    Garage build-out/addition/extension

I did this very same project, mine was a 6x22 addition. If I remember correctly, mine only cost in the neighborhood of $3500, however I did the finish work myself. Pics here:http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=2424 I had a contractor (who has done a lot of work for my family...

    My New Lift

The internets aren't as big and distant as we think. LOL I too am a member over at Classic Olds, (midrange) and saw your thread on your auction purchase. Congrats, that's a beautiful car. :3gears: And nice lift also.

    Unloading Maxjax Question

I did the lift gate option when I bought mine. Best money I ever spent on shipping. The driver even helped us move it into the garage using his pallet ******** the truck. Not sure if he was supposed to do that, but he didn't hesitate at all to help.

I also recommend going 4'x4'x(at least 8"). Use epoxy anchors, don't fiddle around with Wej-its, and take the chance that they won't bite the next time. Epoxy is the way to go. As far as #3 goes, I wouldn't try this. I had to re-pour a section of my floor, hated to wait, but in the end, it was...

What to use to lube car lift slides

This is what was suggested for the MaxJax post/slides. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_white-lithium-grease-crc_7070403-p

GARAGE ADDITION THREADS AND LEAN TOs

I added a 6' x 22' extension on my 26x32. I wanted to go bigger, but due to under ground utilities and a building inspector who already let me slide on the 26x32 originally, I ended up at 6'. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=2424

I picked up something today every shop should have.

Nice find. There was one on Craigslist a month or so ago, a bit of a drive from me, but the price made it worth the trip. Bummer that the seller never got back to me.

    Family Handyman $5/year

You have to add it to your cart, then enter the code 'DEALNEWS' in the promo code box. It should show up at the $5.

    Family Handyman $5/year

Perfect timing as my sub to Family Handyman just ran out. I wasn't going to renew, but for $5 a year, I couldn't pass it up.

    Maxjax not so smooth

If your asking about the uneven lifting, yes, mine was acting up from the start. Thanks to Gabe, I've got it figured out now.

    Maxjax not so smooth

Have to give Gabe a shout out, I had an uneven lifting problem, over 3" at 3/4 lift. After several emails of troubleshooting, he sent out a flow control to put in the line of the quicker cylinder. That took care of my problem. After some initial adjustments on the flow control, my MaxJax now...

MaxJax Install - Anchors won't bite

Not sure how this would work. The wedge and threaded section are one solid piece. The anchors work by being driven down, then 'pulled' back up (with the bolt, nut, washer) enough so the wedge portion spreads the sleeve to bite into the surrounding concrete. That is why it needs to be driven down...

    Maxjax Installs: Post Here

I would not buy any more Wej-it's. Go with the epoxy anchors. You said that there is a 6 inch void below the hole you drilled, does this mean that the hole is 12" deep, or 6" from the top of the floor? If it's only 6", the epoxy anchors are 6", so you will need at least another 1/2 to 1 inch...

I measured from the south wall of my garage (blue lines in pic) to set the columns. I then squared them (the red lines in pic). Doing it this way, I ended up only 1/8" off when the columns are mounted to the floor/anchors. If I wanted to I could easily take that 1/8 out by adjusting the columns...

Do you want extra width or depth in a garage?

Due to zoning, and a little 'look the other way' from the building inspector, I built a 32X26 with an 18x8 and 9x8 doors. (I really wanted a 36x28, but zoning only allowed 800 sq ft) Up until last fall I had just enough room to keep my fullsize GMC truck, my wifes Chevy trailblazer, and my '71...

    Wheel Dollies

I have a set of four (Harbor Freight, but no noticeable differences compared to others that were available locally)that I used once under my 71 Cutlass. Like the others have said, it takes quite a bit of effort to change directions. I had to take a pry bar and twist each wheel/caster to the...

How to use this urinal without plumbing

How much, and where are you located? I've been wanting to put one in my garage for a while now. I have a slop/laundry sink in the garage that is tied into the sewer system of the house, it will be a simple job for me to install a urinal with water in my garage.

Adding 8ft to the side of garage

I have a 6/12 pitch on my garage, and did an 6' extension. I believe the pitch on the 6' came out to just about 4/12. I have 8' exactly for headroom at the wall. Take a look here at my pics: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=2424

    Advice for basement wall finishing.

I finished mine last winter. Like you, I have poured walls and the basement was very dry. I kept the humidity down to less than 45% with a dehumidifier. You never want lumber touching concrete, especially in enclosed basement walls. I kept the 2x4's 3/4 to 1 inch off the concrete walls. I...
