MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

Sounds like I can run the drain separate from the copper lines, right? Sorry, wasn't even referring to the water, just the refrigerant. So the unit can drain wherever it is convenient (using gravity) but the copper can go up up and away if that is how I needed it to go. I guess I wanted to make...

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

I was thinking the same thing, but at the same time, if it's leaking - it's leaking. Can I install a split in the basement and have the unit above grade outside? Same sort of situation, I install on 1st floor but the outdoor unit is roof install of 1st floor right by a 2nd floor installation...

Opinions on floor mat from Uline

zio - I would take Justin's advice, and maybe edit your posts as to not attract the wrong kind of attention to your discount. Normally when employees receive an employee discount, they are NOT FOR RESALE... and it will get shut down quick. I had the same thing happen to me, I was buying Kurig...

    Hellfire floor coating experience

My garage floor is saw-cut, not troweled - would I have any problems using a sealer like this, or any other epoxy type coating? My fear is that I seal in the cuts... not sure if I should even fear that or not.

    Garage refrigerator conundrum

If the garage is cold enough to freeze the beer in the fridge, it is too cold in the garage to enjoy it anyway. My fridge kept my beers from freezing, but they were freezing in my hand while I was frying turkeys this Thanksgiving... ~20*F will do that pretty quickly.

    Romex bent too tight?

I usually just stick a claw hammer between the stud and the wire to get more radius to the bend. Leaving the circuit on will let you know when you've stretched it enough. If you use the right hammer, some of it will be missing when you're done.

    Electrical Back Feed Question

Just did this, and cost roughly $400 with 100' of 10/3. 50-60' in the house through the garage and 30' extension cord to go outside to generator. Once it is installed, you'll never worry about it again (and hopefully never need to use it :) )

What jackshaft garage door opener to get?

There are dozens of DIY videos online of guys making their own jackshaft openers using tried and true contemporary openers. Might be worth considering.

Advice on 2nd floor garage space

My 18x36 above my garage will be an attic for now, and probably a home theater/entertainment room when the funds allow.

    Locking your garage / shop(?)

A bolt through one of the holes in the garage door rail will stop the door from opening and it is much harder to cut than a padlock because you can't cut it. They will be surrounded by tools which would allow them to unbolt it, but that is too time consuming while the alarm is going off. Bars...

110 race fuel verses 100 low lead av gas

LL AV Fuel still has a TON MORE lead in it than Leaded Race fuel for vehicles. Just had this conversation with a friend of mine, Dodge Demon owner and professional pilot... he buys his race gas like the rest of us.

    "How It's Made" Snap-On Episode

For those of you with young kids... this is a great way to get their creative juices flowing. My 3 and 5yr old boys are glued to the TV when we marathon through a few episodes of this. I usually start with one that is relatable to them, and go from there.

    LM8500 Wall Controller Failure.

Sounds like once we're up and programmed - we should disconnect the unit and start using the doorbell. Not that I think that is acceptable for such an expensive opener, but would it work?

Liftmaster 8500W - New Model, Fixed Controller!?

I guess I'll install mine upside down so that it fails in the down position. OR I need to find a "better" product... cause I need a jackshaft model. The commercial one is only supposed to be used like 3-4 times I day I think I read...

    Double check your insurance policy!!!

Mine is attached. Basically a 2 story addition, 1st floor is all garage, 2nd floor is unfinished garage attic. I don't believe she fully understood, but I also don't believe Liberty Mutual has a good policy for my situation. I'll look into it again.

    Double check your insurance policy!!!

I just spoke with Liberty Mutual re: my garage addition. Roughly $70k into the addition and $30k in tools and furnishings later and they would only add $26k in coverage to the policy because of the square footage of the garage, and because the 18x32 space above it isn’t finished yet. Total...
