Tool set to keep in car?

Last year I watched a homeless guy change an engine at a rest area over the course of a couple weeks. Few weeks ago I watched another one swap the transmission in a Chrysler 300 on the street in front of my work with a bucket of hand tools, a scissor jack and some wooden blocks. The old...

Tool set to keep in car?

In my off road vehicles I probably carry to much stuff. So my daily driver gets jumper cables, a really nice air compressor, and a pretty nice little Williams 1/4” tool kit I got on sale, all the pieces stay in their spots. I’ll probably pick up a few wrenches to toss in the bag at some point...

1/2 inch sockets for weekend warriors.

For many years I had the “I don’t need impacts” mentality. About 7 years ago I ran into a situation where my truck needed new struts, brakes, rear shocks and a few other small things. I ended up buying the parts, a craftsman compressor and the impact gun and sockets from harbor freight. All that...

The Orange Snap-on tools **** thread!

I just got a bit of orange to put in the hand tool mix l. And one very large orange box… no idea why I said orange when they asked what color I wanted. I was pretty dead set on blue or maybe green. I’m not upset at my choice though. *Edit, I missed the “Snap-On” part of the thread title.

Does Napa have higher quality auto parts than AZ/AAP/O'Reilly?

Agreed. And the last time I had to exchange a clutch master cylinder that went bad after 2 weeks with a receipt the parts counter guy accused me a trying to scam them because it had flash rusted where the leaking brake fluid removed the coating. I was pretty pissed and haven’t been back there in...

    Hows Kokens warranty policy?

If I were a professional tool user I would probably avoid Koken, Nepros, etc for this type of situation. As a heavy DIY’er my set of Koken sockets will probably last forever. If I depended on my tools I would want to be able to walk on a truck and get a replacement with no BS. It will be...

The Flex Head Ratchet Thread - Locking vs Not - Discussion

I have the Mac 13” and 18” locking flex-heads. I use them both about equally. Really like them both.

    New tool box prices

Add Facebook marketplace to your searches. I have scored some good deals on there. Also if you want a HF box just wait for a sale and sign up for their credit card for a extra 10% off. I just bit the bullet and got a 72” box after watching the prices go up and up.

How much time do you spend looking for USA made tools?

I spend my time looking for quality tools. USA made is great but not a deal breaker or requirement.

HF US General Boxes, Are They Worth It?

Good to hear. I think I am finally going to bite the bullet and get the 72” box tomorrow before it gets any higher in price. I’m not a pro, and I keep my “every day” tools in a Snap-On cart, so the Harbor Freight box should last forever.

Looking to fill a second tool box.. opinions?

On the lower priced end I have Tekton chrome sockets and Capri impact sockets. Either are hard to beat for the price. On the more spendy but not horribly high cost this year I picked up some Koken mid lengths in metric and “new” in package but used Snap-On mids in standard, love them both. I...

Another air hammer request - DIY

I agree. My 119MAX kit showed up yesterday and it’s really really nice for the price.

Getting ignored from the tool truck guys

You sound kind of needy. Online is probably the best route for you. I have been happy with both MAC and Snap-On’s online shopping/customer service when ordering.

Committing To Cordless / Experimenting With Airless

In a home use environment I think you can get by fine with just battery powered tools if you just need air for small jobs like filling car tires. I have nice air tools and nice battery powered tools. If I need an impact more than 30’ from my garage I’m grabbing the battery stuff. For everything...

Tools you bought with no intention to use

I bought the gold Icon ratchet from harbor freight because it made me chuckle. Then I returned it because $60 for a laugh was a bit much. But that good Nepros ratchet posted above looks amazing, I might search out one of those for the lols.

    Show your new tool arrivals

Found a good deal on a set of wrenches. Just missing the 7/16, ordered a replacement from MAC along with a 1”. Excited to try these out.

    Tool Truck question

I always try to support my local guys first. The phone numbers are pretty easy to find on line so I just text a short introduction, ask if they have what I need, then set up a meeting time around their schedule. I haven’t gotten a negative response yet. Since time is money For sub $20 stuff I...

    What's this snap-on KRL1032EPXR toolbox worth'?

Around me it would sit unsold for months at $3500. At $2500 eventually someone would buy it, at $2000 or less it would probably sell fairly quickly. The toolbox resale market will is great for buyers and horrible for sellers. Nice looking box, I really like the Line-X coating on the top of my cart.

    Tool truck sightings.

The MAC and Snap-On guys live in my neighborhood so I see them all the time. I pass the Matco guy on the highway frequently time. I have never seen a Cornwell, SK or independent truck.

    Williams USA source?

I have the Williams catalogue saved to my computer. I pull the part #’s from that. I just checked 5 of them and each one pulled the correct tools up in Toolsource. You could also give them a call. Their customer service is pretty good.
