Has anyone else seen the date stamp marked in a similar manner? The "GUAR EXP" font seems right, just in the wrong place. Perhaps the retailer applied...

Came across this little 825 2.5" stamped 9 46 a month or so ago. Lightly used and smooth. Finished the restore last week...straight forward and fairly easy. Found a trace of the original paint in the static to base mounting holes...no surprise...light green. Disassembled, wire brushed, corrosion...

New, old vise. Wilton 2-1/2". Partially lubed and assembled, primed and ready for paint. Stamped 6-47 (no "GAR EXP"). Traces of original light green paint. :)

Well, to be honest...Fairhope is one of the nicest and quaint little towns in the LA area...I can see why you might want to be stationary there. Here in Gulf Shores, it pays to swivel a little every now and then.

Newest addition...a 9450 from mid 1965. Very well taken care of by its previous owner.

Here is a link from a 1917 article that says 500 degrees F probably won't reduce the strength of cast iron but repeated cycles may cause it to grow and get heavier (although the growth documented was from 27 cycles and heated to over 1400 degrees).
