Is this old Craftsman DP a screamin' deal?

Yeah, seems like a good deal. I paid more than that for just the vari-slo attachment on mine.

    part washer,

I kind of figured that SG would freeze in an unheated environment. I'm guessing the same would hold true with the rest of the water based solvents?

    part washer,

Any one know how Simple Green would work in a heated parts cleaner? I found an old Graymills unit that I have been reassembling, and it is supposed to be capable of heating the fluid to a something like 105*. The tank holds 30 gallons, and the solvent they recommend is kinda of pricey. Would...

Why does everybody love Snap-on GREEN stuff???

I worked with one guy who bought the pink tools from SO. Claimed it was because nobody on the job site would steal them.

Why does everybody love Snap-on GREEN stuff???

For my use, it's a visibility thing. I prefer the hard plastic handles, and try to get sets of them in different colors (ie. my phillips screwdrivers are bright orange, and the flats are yellow) makes it easier to see at a glance. I prefer the older handles, simply because I like the feel. Take...

    Estate Sale Finds

Those are some cool finds. I wish I could find the patience to search through the estate sales and garage sales to find stuff like that.

    Paint too dark?

I like it. If it were me, I'd consider a cream or off white ( International Harvester White) for the stripe.

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

So, this followed me home the other day. Seems run well, a little noise from the bearings, and a few marks of shame on the work table. Came from a small car dealer that was closing down here in Michigan. The same family had owned the place for about 77 years, from what I was told. They said...

What Tools Not Made Anymore Would You Like To See Return?

I have one of these as well, and always meant to use it on hi-c and Hawaiian punch. Never even noticed they stopped using cans. I think you can still get pineapple juice in a can, maybe v-8 juice too?

    Warranty on Torx Sockets

Never had an issue. But, I also willingly paid more for the Snap-On set to not have a problem. When I twist one into a drill bit, or break one, it's a matter of calling my SO dealer to find out where he is. (Quit the dealership business about 3 years ago, so I have to go to him)

Show us your cool, "old" drill press

Thanks. I didn't get it in the pics, but I was able to find a motor closer to the correct vintage with the on/off switch in the base so I could ditch the light switch on the side.

Since I haven't gotten around to starting a thread for it yet, here's the press I picked up about a month ago. Before and after clean up and paint.
