Looking for suggestions to cool 1600 sq ft metal shop building

Thanks for your comments. Looks like mini-splits get kinda expensive at that size (36k) .. I'm seeing $3,500 bucks ? The other options look like they are down closer to 2000-2500

A packaged unit has everything in one box, right ? All you have to do is run the duct work coming out of the unit (assuming you will have duct work) ?

Looking for suggestions to cool 1600 sq ft metal shop building

I just talked to a guy at www.ingramswaterandair.com (after a google search) and he can sell me a standard unit for $2,300.00 free shipping. That (seems to) include everything I would need to install the unit myself...

This one I ordered had 300 good reviews on Lowe's web site, so I figure it's probably ok.

Thanks hangfire. I've ordered a 70 liter dehumidifier from lowes, should have it in the next day or two. I'll see how it does and report back.

Looking for suggestions to cool 1600 sq ft metal shop building

Have a new shop, 1600 SF, metal building that is in the shade most of the day. Insulated well .. double insulated doors / (1) 4x3 double pane window, etc. I put a digital thermostat in the middle of the building. When it's 95 outside, it's 80 - 85 inside, but very humid (85-90% humid is what...

New Shop / Lighting / Think I Screwed Up

Does anybody know how much light is impeded by using a "wrap" type fixture instead of just naked bulbs out in the open ?

New Shop / Lighting / Think I Screwed Up

Assembling the fixture took all of about 120 seconds, so that's not really a factor. Thanks for info on the ballast factor, I wasn't aware of that.

Why T5 ? Everything I've seen says they aren't worth the extra money over T8.

New Shop / Lighting / Think I Screwed Up

Decided to pull them all out and start from scratch. Found some pretty nice 4 bulb, 4' fluorescent fixtures at Lowe's for $50.00 each and I'll get 6 of them. Not as clean as tidy as the others but I don't want to install 24 or more fixtures when 6 of these others will do a better job for less...

    Light Fixture Layout Collections

I'd love for you to have a look at mine if you can. I put up some recessed lighting and I'm completely unhappy with it. Ready to pull it all back out and start over. The larger bay area (40x20 with 14' high door) could probably be lit around the walls, some hanging from the 2nd floor that's...

New Shop / Lighting / Think I Screwed Up

Downstairs area that I am lighting right now is only 40x20, it's the area under the upstairs (obv also 40x20). I'll do the larger, high ceiling bay area lighting later. $8.00 seems to be pretty typical for a recessed lighting fixture. All of them cost about that. What would be good lighting...

New Shop / Lighting / Think I Screwed Up

I have a new 40x40 shop, with 40x20 upstairs area, and right now I'm just lighting the "downstairs" 40x20 part. It has 9' ceilings down there. I like the idea of recessed lighting, so I bought 12 HALO recessed lighting boxes (8 bucks each) from Lowes. I also bought 12 LED lights @ 1300 lumens...

Looking for Big Bay Doors (barn-like)

I'd like to get big doors like this (wood looking) : On the garage / toy barn I'm building. I'd also like to match walk-in doors to those large bay doors. The bay door is 12' wide and 14' high. I don't care how they hang :) .. they can swing open, slide open, roll up, whatever is...
