My Small But Growing 1/4" drive Socket Set Collection

Curious find today at the flea. Cleaned it up some but unbranded. Working end has a recessed spring. Any ideas of the maker. Looks better quality than Taiwanese cheese...measures at 5 1/4"

My Small But Growing 1/4" drive Socket Set Collection

Interesting find yesterday, I've not seen this design on a Craftsman spinner before.

    Let's see your Herbrand!

To accompany my find from post #781, I purchased a Herbrand tool box and have outfitted a S19 speed brace and S-21 T-bar with it. Not seeing this box in the catalogs I'm assuming its likely a late 1960s or 1970s box (before they went to that woodgrain sticker effect). Gonna just label it as a...

    Kennedy tool box

Oh, no...the pic didn't show a Kennedy badge so I was presuming Wright due to them doing a lot of military tool boxes in the stated era

    Kennedy tool box

That looks like a Wright box from the 2000s era?

    Kennedy tool box

Picked this 1964 Kennedy military issue machinist tool box yesterday at a flea market. Complete with original data plate, it's in excellent shape. $30 and I took it home. Now, where or who has the inventory sheets so I can restock her?

    Let's see your Herbrand!

Went to an estate sale Friday and grabbed up a cool older toolbox. Discovered a very nice Herbrand 1/2" drive socket set with drivers and accessories inside which made the $35 price tag on the box well worth the purchase! But I believe the sockets are a different time stamp than the ratchet? The...

    Post up your Thorsen tools!

Brian, Thanks but I think I have three of them on the display boards already! Now, still missing some screwdriver and pliers for those boards so if ya run into any of that let me know. Funny how the Southeast has tons of Thorsen sockets and drivers but I never see the screwdrivers and pliers...

    Post up your Thorsen tools!

So, some of you know we had a little battle with Hurricane Helene in these North Carolina mountains back in September 2024. River flooding took away my 24' enclosed trailer and a huge collection of Thorsen, Billings, Bonney and Husky sets. My shop and garage received 5' of flood water and...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

Because I spend too much time out buying tools and not enough loading debris and junk off to the dump...I think Spring may finally be upon us here so yardwork shall begin soon (soon as the estate sales stop...ha ha)

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

UPDATE- The S-K box is a #6000 Master Mechanics box from 1953. Its either gonna be restocked as a #4053 or a #4066 set depending on what I have in spares! Either way I've got a new home for my midget #4098 1/4 drive set. And, the box had a unicorn #40950 crossbar in it that I can use to help...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

After today's estate sale and enroute to buy an item off FB Marketplace, I came across a sign with yard and barn sale. No dates but the signs looked fresh. Surprised to find they started today. Lady remarked to check out the tractors for sale in the barn...where there are tractors, there are...

Yes, I think I'll label it a #608 box and skip calling it the set with the spinner.

Soooo...that 1940 catalog looked promising but, alas, my six point sockets are NM 6xx series, so my set has to fall after 1940 (NM 6X series sockets) and prior to 1948 (M 6xx series sockets).

The Vintage New Britain and Associated Thread!

Whilst looking in the NB spare box, I found this other 1/4" set that I must have forgotten I had. It's got the round handle NM51 and contains six point, 12 point and eight point sockets in the single knurled band NM series. So, I'm guessing circa 1955ish? Its box is 6 13/16 x 2 13/16 so I have...
