1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

I am not sure what to make of that response from HP Tuners. That is not what they are telling two other individuals. One of those has already send his PCM to HP Tuners and gotten it back with the claim that PATS has been removed. He has not yet started his project's engine, but attempts at...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

TW, Sorry I misunderstood your turbo plans, had me worried! I made the comments about recent news on Ford EPATS and CAN systems in hopes that some readers will understand that transplanting 2011-up Ford powertrains has been made a little easier. My comments were not really aimed at you, you...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

TW, Not sure going to a single turbo is a good solution, that could really complicate boost control.

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

Let me explain. Since 1996, most all Ford domestic vehicles have had a Passive Anti Thief System (PATS) built into the engine computer (PCM). This means you need to have the correct security-coded ignition key to start the vehicle. However, aftermarket engine Tuners have had software that can...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

Heard some news last night that might be of interests here. Both HP Tuners and Lund Racing are now claiming they can remove PATS from 2011-up Ford PCMs. HP Tuning software can also turn off Communications and fault codes for any unwanted modules on the CAN bus. This means that 3.5L EB/6R80...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

TW, Well, I know exactly how you are feeling. I have had to think long and hard about the number of projects on my plate and the time and money I have to invest as well. Too many projects! So I decided to cut down. Made 3 list: Keep & Finish, Never going to get done, & Save till later...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

Sorry, I did plan to stop by, but relatives were in hurry to get back to Vegas area, my loss. Let me know when you are starting to work on Ecoboost again, and I will make a trip out to explain the electronics systems or help anyway I can. Do you own a Ford IDS system? Are you planning to...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

The BCMs are programmed for each truck by VIN, can be reprogrammed via Ford IDS but remember that on F150's the PATS is in the BCM so you can not just swap BCM for one from a 2-door truck, might as well reprogram yours.

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

U0422-00-2F PCM Invalid Data Body Control Module At first I did not have harness from fuel tank/pump to main harness plugged in. Still no power to fuel pump. Sounds like PATS did not sync up. Fuel pump will not be initialized until PATS is satisfied. Is the ignition key, PCM, and BCM all...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

TimeWarpF100, One item to check if your Ecoboost cranks but does not start is the Grounds. Every ground connection in the wiring harnesses must be connected to a good ground. There are a lot of these grounds, but some are really critical for the PCM/PATS function. Also there needs to be at...

TimeWarpF100, The SEMA show will wear your feet out for sure! Your eyes too, so much to see and inspect. I see those LS motors stuffed into all kinds of cars and trucks. GM makes it easy to do with their complete powertrain kits, and they support their auto transmissions with electronics...

1966 F100 EcoBoost Engine Swap (EcoBoosted)

TimeWarpF100, I wish I had read that you were going to SEMA before I went. Would have been great to talk with you about your Ecoboost project. I hope you checked out those 2015 2.7L Ecoboost F150s, that is a tiny little engine that makes 325HP/375ft-lbs, and would be a great swap into a...
