    Show your new tool arrivals

Interested in your thoughts. I have a whole set of their guides in my cart but couldn't pull the trigger. You may sway me!

How much is cost a factor in your hand tool purchasing decision?

None. I work on things because I want to and I generally enjoy doing it. The way I see it I'm saving $215/hr vs. the dealership plus all the hassles of going there, so if I can reduce effort/frustration by spending more, so be it. Ergonomics, quality, and to an extent, CoO do play a role in...

    Strapping tools and straps

Admittedly, I havent watched CEE in several months, but I used to. I remember thinking wow, that's a neat tool and I could probably find a use for it. The one he used at the time was made by a company I never heard of and was over $3000.

I'm happy SBD bought Craftsman from Sears

As yes, the RP ratchet. Less teeth than the average meth head and the greatest crime against the male hand since the invention of the wedding ring. Congrats on your upgrade

    HF oddest size skip set

News to me. My 1990s Craftsman sets don't skip 12mm. Neither do any of my 10+ year old Snap On sets--wrenches or sockets. I wish I lived in a place where 13mm and 1/2" fasteners could use the same tool.

Compared to the price of the one they knocked off, yes, $30 is cheap.

Is the Den of Tools a shill?

You must not watch a lot of SMA. I've been watching it since the beginning back when Eric was still awkward and nervous in front of the camera. In the not-too-distant past, he crapped on the G1 Icon ratchets; they didnt last at all. He spoke highly of the Snap Ons he's used for years without...

Interest free financing up to 3 years on tools!

In 2026 people are financing tacos and pizzas with weekly payments. Financing cheap tools shouldn't raise an eyebrow. None of this will end well, but I can't stop people from doing what they want to do so I'll just watch it happen.

    Tekton Semi-Deep

I bought my first sets of semi-deeps a few months ago. I haven't used them yet. For 30 years, my brain has been programmed to use shallow or deep, so that's what it keeps doing. Have there been times in the past where semi-deeps would have been a help? Yes, a few, that's why I bought them...

    New Icon Wire Stripper/Cutter/Crimper

I saw a YouTube video featuring HF's "senior tool engineer". He didn't look old enough to start shaving yet. He does appear to be able to order Snap On tools online, receive them, put them in a box, and send them to Taiwan with a note "Make these--cheap!" Which is apparently all HF is looking for.

Is the Den of Tools a shill?

There's only one YouTuber who's tool opinion I'm interested in. His name is Eric and he owns South Main Auto Repair. He'll tell you if it was sent to him for free or not. He actually uses tools daily on rusty shitboxes. He has videos of him using the tools. He's known for not being gentle with...

    Snap-On GTM830 Upgrade?

I have a Snap On F836 that was the first SO tool I ever bought, in the mid 90s. I still use it whenever swing arc isn't an issue. When it is, I use one of the newer Dual80s.

    Digital tire inflator?

I use the Astro for my DIY purposes. Bought it April 2024, still on the original batteries. It's a bit on the big side, but it is pretty nice to use and accurate enough for daily drivers.

    Rousseau Tool Cabinets

I've had two freight shipments to my house in the past year. I asked how much I'd save if I picked it up at their depot instead of home delivery. One was ~30 minutes away, the other about 40. IIRC, the difference was less than $50 on both of them. Not worth the effort at that point. May be...

Automotive battery carrier handle are there any good ones?

I have the Lang B-600 version of that. It's what we used at the parts store to move hundreds of batteries a week when I worked there decades ago. Works great for me too, for years

    Cheap Discs and Angle Grinders

3M, always. Not disparaging the others, I just know if I buy something from 3M it will work properly, last longer than most, and be as safe as possible. Also easy to find from any industrial supplier, some box stores, and certainly online. Sure it might cost more, but I'll take that over the...

    Cheap Discs and Angle Grinders

Glad it wasn't worse, OP. My personal policy on abrasives and PPE is if 3M makes it, I buy the 3M. Hasn't let me down yet.

    Ratchet for a Friend

You would be hard pressed to find a finer 1/2" ratchet than a Snap On Dual 80.

Tool makeup diversity in your box

I started out in the mid 90s as a teenager with Craftsman. It was semi-local, good warranty, USA made, decent enough, and affordable, especially considering everything went on sale eventually. As time went on and I got more into working on things and found the limitations of those tools as well...
