Best Way to Insulate a Pole Barn with MBI Already Installed?

That looks awesome. I had something else envisioned when you said metal ceiling. I really like how that turned out. Is your shop heated? Do you have any moisture issues in your walls or attic?

What is the fix to prevent this from happening?

Best Way to Insulate a Pole Barn with MBI Already Installed?

I’ve been meaning to verify this, but I can’t remember whether there’s MBI on the roof or if the soffits are vented. It’s been a while since I was last up there. For the ceiling, my plan is to install OSB first, then place the existing foam board on top of it on the attic side.

Best Way to Insulate a Pole Barn with MBI Already Installed?

There is currently no insulation above the existing foam board.

Best Way to Insulate a Pole Barn with MBI Already Installed?

The heater I’ve selected is the Mr. Heater Big Maxx 50,000 BTU unit, which I understand is a vented heater. So, would this be the recommended approach? Leave the MBI in place, install polyisocyanurate insulation board between the girts, properly seal it with great stuff foam, and then cover...

Best Way to Insulate a Pole Barn with MBI Already Installed?

I’ve left out quite a bit of information about the build and what I’m planning to do. I’ll keep adding details as I remember them. What looks like exposed beams are actually furring strips nailed to the beams to support the foam board. One reason I was considering removing the foam board is to...

Best Way to Insulate a Pole Barn with MBI Already Installed?

Yes, scenario #1 from my original post is what I’d like to do. I’m having a hard time accepting the idea of cutting the existing MBI, but I’m willing to do it if that’s what’s needed to insulate the shop walls correctly. I want to leave the vented peak roof as-is in its original construction...

Best Way to Insulate a Pole Barn with MBI Already Installed?

In my first scenario above, would you recommend cutting the existing MBI if I install polyisocyanurate board insulation for the walls? I’d really prefer not to cut the MBI if I can avoid it, but from what I’m reading, it seems like I may be creating a double vapor barrier—the existing MBI being...

Best Way to Insulate a Pole Barn with MBI Already Installed?

I’m looking for some guidance from those of you who’ve been down this road already. I have a 24x36 pole barn, built pretty standard with 4x6 posts and 2x6 girts. The walls were wrapped with what appears to be MBI (metal building insulation). Next season I’ll be installing a 50,000 BTU gas...

Has anyone here used the Moiswell Defender MP145 dehumidifier?

I’m looking for some real-world feedback before pulling the trigger. How’s the build quality and overall reliability? Any issues or things you wish you knew beforehand? Also curious how it compares to similar options in the same price range. Appreciate any insight 👍

    Hello from Columbus, Ohio

Hi. My name is John and I recently just moved to central Ohio area. I finally now have a shop. It's a 25'x35' pad with a car lift. I spoiled myself and bought a new IR air compressor and a Skat blasting cabinet. I'm currently running 240v outlets for things like the compressor and welder I have...
