    Garages at Night Thread

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Modern Farmhouse w/ 36x25 2-Story Garage

Thanks! We used a premium Ashbury .050 double 6" vinyl siding to give us the look of hardi without the added expense and maintenance. The board and batten, window trim, band boards, and corners are all done in XO by Penrod PVC, identical to Kleer and Azek. I'm very excited to be able to use the...

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the kind words! I have been keeping most of my pics to the garage but I'd be happy to share other parts of the house if people are interested.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Modern Farmhouse w/ 36x25 2-Story Garage

Thanks! We're really proud of it. We intended to do another design but, when my wife told me this property was her first choice, we switched things up and went with one of my farmhouse designs. I don't know how long this style will be popular but we tried to give it a timeless look. It looks...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Modern Farmhouse w/ 36x25 2-Story Garage

Things are still dragging along but, for all of the things that have and are going wrong, the upside is that at the end of this we will have our dream house and garage. Our latest challenge, aside from it being nice out and everyone is suddenly sick, is with the hardwood. We've been waiting...

Driveway - Stone & Concrete Combo

The concrete guys biggest hang up with it is that he thinks it'll crack based on a recent experience with 24" strips that were actually driven/parked on regularly by a Suburban, on and off multiple times a day. Ours will only rarely be driven over and in very specific places.

Driveway - Stone & Concrete Combo

It does take twice as much work but the labor is considered in the $4000 savings by not going all concrete. I talked to the concrete guy today while on site, he still thinks we should do the whole thing. The plan is to make them 18" wide x 6" deep with 8" in drive over locations, using 3500 psi...

Driveway - Stone & Concrete Combo

The driveway stone I'm referring to would be a 1" to 2" fill stone, not natural paver style. I can't stand cracked concrete either, I had them round off the parking pad edges to help prevent any breaking in that location. I agree with you 100%! I feel like its easier for him and he makes more...

Driveway - Stone & Concrete Combo

I was hoping to get everyone's thoughts on my plan for my driveway. We are building a modern farmhouse on the 5 acre piece of farm. Its has 3 car garage with a 34x30 parking pad. My driveway is 200 feet long and my plan is to install 18" concrete runners down each side of a 10' wide stone...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Modern Farmhouse w/ 36x25 2-Story Garage

ugh, not much has been going on with the garage lately as the majority of attention is going to the house. It has been drywalled but is waiting on paint. Its is essentially the staging area for all things interior. They tried to pour the parking pad 34x30 last week only to find the concrete...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Modern Farmhouse w/ 36x25 2-Story Garage

Woohooo, I finally have something to post about. We have had a lot going on in the last few weeks. Electrical, plumbing, HVAC and framing have all been inspected and approved. Insulation is in with the exception of the blown in portion and room over the garage (should be done tomorrow). In the...

Thanks! Plumbing continues and includes half bath with outdoor shower and hot and cold water at the garage wall spigot. Electrical is working hard on getting things wrapped up. 400 amp service, can lights, work lights, etc. I'm planning to run speaker wire this weekend. The asphalt shingles...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Modern Farmhouse w/ 36x25 2-Story Garage

Thanks! We had originally planned to go with another design. Once we picked the lot we knew we had to go with one of my farmhouse designs. It ended up being more house for less money, so that didn't hurt.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Modern Farmhouse w/ 36x25 2-Story Garage

While the framing still isn't completed they have been tying up a lot of loose ends. Enough has been done that I think the asphalt shingle portion of the roof should be completed. While this goes on, plumbing is nearly complete and electrical is well on its way. The good news is the garage...
