Barber chair restoration - a few questions

Plating goes with the look that you want when it's finished. If you are restoring it, then nickel is the way to go. You're right about plating fasteners. They will plate the threads if don't tell em not to. They use a tape to protect em during plating. If they do plate em, you might have...

    Clean Slate Garage

Looking good! That cabinet between the doors is crying out for those kitchen sliding drawers to really utilize that space. I hate having to dig thru everything to find what I want.

    NJHoudini's detached shop

My house had a brand new PT porch on the front and I wanted it to be white. My paint guy told me to wait a year before putting anything on it. When I did, I used white stain instead of paint. That way, when it needs touching up years later, I don't have to sand every little piece of wood. I...

    Divco Milk Truck Restoration

Right on, Divco. You are building a great period piece and vinyl would not fit. Ask those pinstripers who the best sign guy is and hunt him down. You won't regret it.

    Pit Cart Project Started

Nice work. Folks usually don't realize with a good pit wagon, you only need one set of tools. I use this one. Tools are always in the same place - that is, if'n I put em away after using.

    Garage / Shop Walls

I used primed, T-111, coated the back and edges and painted it when it was all up on the walls. The ceiling was OSB, also coated everywhere. Coating the bare wood delays mold when the Midwest temps and humidity flip flop. Plus, it's strong enuf to hang stuff on. My next garage will use metal...
