    Above 1200 Sq/FT "Thisland" - a 50x100 build thread

Fortunately we are a metal working and powder coating shop and this is a working shop in the middle of the woods so I’m not super worried if we scratch a few things. :) It feels very real right now.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT "Thisland" - a 50x100 build thread

So yesterday was a flurry of activity. Plumbing rough done Monday. Yesterday we had passed both concrete and plumbing inspection and were given the green light to start pouring concrete! Pardon the mild rant for a moment. The window that we were given for the delivery was from 8-10...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT "Thisland" - a 50x100 build thread

Concrete forms are in and the pads for the mezzanine and lifts carved out. We are scheduled for pouring on Friday! Me for perspective in the middle. I'm 6' and 265# if that gives a sense of scale.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT "Thisland" - a 50x100 build thread

Took the drone out there the other day and got a few last shots before the concrete forms go in this weekend. Also had 2 more loads of gravel brought in so the concrete trucks don't murder my driveway.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT "Thisland" - a 50x100 build thread

My wife doesn't really want to move any time soon (we've put a LOT of work into our basement in the last few years and it'd be nice to enjoy it instead of working on it all the time) but when figuring out where to put the shop I wanted to ensure there was enough room to put a house if I decided...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT "Thisland" - a 50x100 build thread

That is some damned good information you've posted and answers that great mystery. One problem we're definitely going to run into is my stupid need to drive my car over from one shop to another. Currently she's sitting with the top end of the motor missing (donated a bunch of parts to another...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT "Thisland" - a 50x100 build thread

I finally have enough pictures of the project to start a build thread! A few months ago I get a call from a friend that bought some land to put 2 shops on that the lot that backs up to theirs was up for sale for a good price. I wasn't really in the market for it but the deal was sound and...

    Cold formed building erector?

@readhead Ramble away my friend. I'll take any knowledge you have to offer! So I'm assuming you're saying to put the columns up first, ensure square/plumb before lifting the rafters into place? Would you say it's prudent to do an entire bay at a time and just work our way down or do the...

    Cold formed building erector?

With absolute due respect I had rough numbers for just about everything based off of the information provided by various contractors/vendors in each space. Before I even went to the bank or committed to buying the property I had/have a very detailed spreadsheet with almost all of the big ticket...

    Cold formed building erector?

They sent me a list of people that they have used in the past who have good reputations and I've been in contact with the closer ones. They said it's usually $6-7 sq/ft and so far the quotes I'm getting back are closer to $10 sq/ft (which on a total building that is 5750 with the mezzanine is...

    Cold formed building erector?

I can't believe I've had an account on here since 2009 and this is my first ever post. Talk about power-lurker! We recently bought some land in Statham GA and ordered a 50x100 cold form steel building. I know I probably picked the absolute worst time in human history to buy something giant...
