    My 24x28 auto shop build

Got a lot done this weekend. Got the Harbor Freight boxes into their new home and plumbed in the RapidAir system and drop reel. Put this one right next to a 220 outlet for a future plasma cutter. Messy as hell..... Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

    My 24x28 auto shop build

Started in another bench last night. I'm reusing the top to my old gladiator bench, real nice butcher block style top, but rebuilding the frame to hold 2 harbor freight 44" boxes. In place and empty. With the boxes in front of the bench. Next step is to empty the boxes, take the caster...

    My 24x28 auto shop build

Started on the top today. 3/4" MDF for most of it, 4' of it is 1/2" MDF that I will put a piece of 1/4" steel plate on top of. Won't really use it as a welding table or anything, just want a solid metal surface for part of the top. Also plan on putting some sealer on the MDF and have some...

    My 24x28 auto shop build

Started in on one of the remaining work benches today. This one will house my other 26" Craftsman tool box and some shelves. The left side of it is left open underneath on purpose. I'm going to take the caster wheels from one of the HF boxes and use them on a welding/fab cart and it will...

    Jorgenson clamp part replacement?

That was my next step Cobbler, I'm quite familiar with that process with the adjustable control arms on my Jeeps, basically the same concept on a much larger scale. There is plenty of visible rust on the threads, so if I can break them loose I'm not sure how well they will work anyways.

    Jorgenson clamp part replacement?

Thanks for the link, my Google-Fu must have been lacking tonight. I think by the time I get those parts and pay for shipping it might just be cheaper to go buy a couple new ones and salvage them.

    Jorgenson clamp part replacement?

My wife inherited a few Jorgenson clamps from her father recently, but my mother in law didn't keep them in the base shape after my father in law got sick (left them outside . . . .) so now the screw adjusters are completely seized. They've sat in penetrating oil for a while now and now sign of...

    New 26x28

I'm just wrapping up my 24x28, sounds similar to yours except all my toys have 4 wheels. Not sure how cold it gets where you are, but my little electric heater heats my shop just fine here in CO. Here's my build thread: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/search.php?searchid=23609683

    Refinishing Gladiator workbench top

Bought an 8' Gladiator bench a while back and the top is well used. Lot of small dings, scratches, etc. Looks kinda nasty in my new shop as dirt and grease has collected in the nicks and such. Given that it wasn't cheap, and the top is still in overall good shape, what would be the best way...

    Lets see your workbench

Here's my "clean" bench. It will be used to plan projects in the shop, set beer on, watch TV at, stuff like that. Gnarliest stuff it will see is electronics, r/c cars and guns so I wasn't worried about the durability of the laminate top. Shelf on the bottom left will house something, just not...

    My 24x28 auto shop build

Thanks, I used an 8' piece of pre-fab laminate countertop from Home Depot. This bench won't see any major work, just a place to plan projects and put beer on so I'm not worried about the durability of the laminate. Fridge is in. My dad had a U Line in his basement he wasn't using. Outside of...

    My 24x28 auto shop build

Got it moved over into place today. Still need to do some cable cleanup for all of the junk on the shelf with the receiver. My wifi router is there, Chromebox, and DTV box all share that shelf so there's a lot of wires. Turns out my dad has an undercounter fridge he's not using so I'll pick that...

    My 24x28 auto shop build

I used Republic Garages. Pricing for mine was probably a bit higher than most as it took a fair amount of grading and foundation work. I think I was in the low 30's but can't remember what it came out to exactly because we did some extra stuff as well like a driveway all the way out to the street.

The construction phase of the bench is done, just need to stain it and slap the top on it.

    My 24x28 auto shop build

Started on one of the workbenches today. Top isn't attached yet and the base isn't finished yet. Right side will house the beer fridge, built to standard under counter appliance size. Middle will house one of my craftsman tool boxes for drawers. Left side will have shelves for the Chromebox...

Home improvement loans-how to/ your advise??

I work for one of the "too big to fail" banks and deal with home equity and mortgage lending on a daily basis. There were some FHA purchase programs that may still be around that looked at it like this, but your basic home equity line/loan, we only care what the house is worth now. Too much of...
