    Welding in patch panels

Any tips for welding the underside of door sills? I have some rust that needs to be repaired before the car will pass inspection (PA). These are in an area that I can't get to the backside. Should I just use a magnet across the body and patch to keep them flush until tacked? I've not done...

    Tube bender

Here's mine (click thumb): My Writeup Jack: there's a guy making dies for the HF Roll Bender (I just got one). He makes other round tube sizes AND an assortment of square tube dies. If you have access to a lathe, opening up the 1/2" square ones would certainly be more cost effective, but...

Poor Man's Retro Retreat -- in 440 square feet

Jack - love the garage. I'm working with about 400 square feet (actually a bit less since there is a staircase that the previous owner moved from outside into the interior. I've gotten a lot of space saving ideas from your space and will be implementing some of them - thank you!

    G73 Electric Heater-Adding a Remote Thermostat?

Here's the wiring out of the link posted above. I plan to do the same setup as Stargeezer for the most part. I'm curious why the use of #8 THHN instead of #10? Is this due to the length of your run? In the pics it doesn't look too far. Due to where my box is, I'm planning to go #10 from the...

    Those running Dayton G73 heaters

I just bought one of these minutes ago. Not sure what I pay for electric, but running a gas line and the cost of the gas units was enough to keep me hesitating from biting the bullet. This is much more manageable up front and hopefully not too painful in the long run.

    Painting hardlines (compressed air)

I agree - the space looks to small for most. What compressor? Sure looks like a 60 gal tank won't make it... Now if you are using a smaller oiless, maybe you can put it in a box in your neighbors garage to maintain your sanity... (will be loud even with a box)

    Any experience w/SnapOn Compressors?

How is the compressor working out for you? I'm working on a potential purchase if I can score a deal like yours. How has it treated you now that you've had it for a while?

My garage build - project: "make it usable"

Help me decide which direction to go. I've got a 21' x 21' two story all block garage, circa 1950's that is in need of some TLC. The roof is shot, the previous owner moved the steps to the 2nd floor - previously outside - to the inside and cut a load bearing beam which is now suported with...

    Hammer Drill ??

I got the Dewalt one recently. Worked fine and complements my other Dewalt stuff. Can't go wrong with Bosch either - my BIL has a Hitachi and it has been good for him as well. I don't buy Craftsman power tools (bad experiences with drills and routers) and the only decent Skil tool is the...

What kind of welders does everyone have?

Miller MM210 MIG and Miller Syncrowave 180 SD TIG. Looking to add a 110v welder back into the mix for convenience (kicking myself for selling my Lincoln 125 Plus) Synergy - good looking cart!

    Cheap Intro Router

The way my router collection expanded is the way I think many woodworkers grow their tool collection. I started with a Craftsman fixed base router - then later bought a Craftsman router table. You'll quickly find that removing the router from the table to use it by hand gets old quick. This...
