    Crumbling garage floor question

Well, its sounding like the consensus may be to replace the concrete itself. Its my Uncle's garage and he has no intentions of ever moving again so it has to last him the rest of his life. 76 warlock - Thanks for the info. My uncle is a contractor and knows a lot about concrete. He was...

    Crumbling garage floor question

We were thinking it was the concrete itself. There's about a 10' addition on the back of the garage with newer concrete and it looks fine. He's hoping he can figure something out short of ripping it up and pouring a new slab. I'll mention the blankets to him and see what he thinks. Thanks

    Crumbling garage floor question

My Uncle is the only other garage guy in my family and pretty much everything I've learned about fixing or making things has come from him. I'd like to help him out a bit by figuring out whats going on with his floor and how we can fix it. He had a coating put down a few years back and, lets...

    Reorganization, it's like a renovation.

I just finished reading this whole thread over the last two days. I don't post often but I must say that I'm quite impressed. Things are turning out quite well. Your ingenuity is amazing. I also have to say that is it quite refreshing to see how you are dealing with your challenges and it...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Last night I got started on cleaning out my girl's garage to make way for me moving in next month. She says I get carte blanch on the garage as long as I get her craft room build for her. Had to "explain" to her that I need to get the garage done...

    Family room make over problem

I would love that! However, the house is her domain. No fun guy stuff other than in my corner of the office. I guess I'll stick to the garage for now.

    Critique My Welds?

Hey ddawg. Good to see you're still around. I'm just learning to weld but it looks pretty good to me. Wish I could be of more help. Garage looks great though and good luck with the house. I'm in Norwalk (NorWatts) too. At least for now. Finally on my way out!

HF Toolboxes Workbench - Phase 3

The bench came out great! I love the design. I have a quick thought on the gap under the boxes. I'm not sure what the height of the gap there is but if its high enough what about some thin roller drawers under there to store flat stuff like saw blades or sand paper? Gives a little extra...

What's your latest garage related injury?

I've got an incredibly stupid one from about a year ago. I was getting some things cleared out and moved around in the garage by my self. I had an old big (37" i think) tube TV set that weighs nearly as much as I do that I wanted to put on top of the fridge. Got it up on my shoulder and...

    What a Difference Paint Makes

Its looking good. A paint sprayer is one of the things on my looooong list of things I still want to pick up one of these days. It would make a lot of projects much easier on me.

    Getting started at last

This is what I have so far: What are your thoughts? Too much information? Not enough information. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to add in the type and gauge of cable I'm using but other than tha how am I looking? *Edit - Just noticed that I have the color mixed up on the last...

    Garage remodel

Looks like this is the route I'm going to take. I'll need 2x8s to cover the span. So how do I go about attaching the perimeter? Lags? Nails?

    Getting started at last

I've got a few questions on my project here for you guys. I spoke to the city today about pulling permits for the framing and electrical that I want to do. That means I'm already way behind the schedule that I wanted. My main question is how much detail do I need to go into for my electrical...

    Getting started at last

The bicycle belongs to my rooomate. It's a nearly ten foot long "chopper" bike. Really nice custom made to fit him. I'm only 5'9" so its too damn big for me to ride. He's 6'3" so I can hardly reach the peadles. Gift from his girl. Thanks for the comments.

    Getting started at last

I've got an 18 x 20 detached garage that is in dire need of some serious TLC. My folks bought the house in '84 and I took it over last year when my dad moved out of state. After clearing out most of his junk and moving it to his new garage I finally had a starting point for my shop rather than...

    Are your kids mechanically inclined?

No kids myself yet so I don't know if it will ever get passed down. I got everything I know from my grandfather, aunt and uncle on my mom's side. Grandpa was better than MacGyver. He could fix or build anything out of the spare junk he had laying around the garage. My uncle learned from him...

Greetings from not so sunny So Cal

Back Right Up Up towards the front Top Plate Rigth now there is no ceiling, one outlet (the one with the light plugged in isn't hooked up to anything) and one light bulb by the door. Then entire back and half of one side are huge 2' deep shelves that take up a ton of space. I'm...
