Knipex Crimpers for Heat Shrink Splice Connectors

Well, I'm confused. Are you saying that the information in this specification below is "smashing wires" as opposed to a "real crimp"? https://www.soemtron.org/downloads/disposals/tycocrimpdata.pdf

    Advice on Protective Gear, Please

What type (not brand)of Ratcheting wrenches should I get?

You are an occasional DIY homeowner. If you are delayed having to reach into the tool box extra times to grab an extra wrench it is no problem. Slower, but able to do the task with regular combo wrench - no problem. Pros have lots of tool overlap so they can work most efficiently. You...

DIY Calibration Checked My 3 Torque Wrenches...Interesting Results

Since your NAPA wrenches look exactly like the Gear Wrench models that state they are made in China, I have to guess that your "assembled in U.S." wrenches are also China made. The DANAHER/APEX wrenches circa 2010 +/- looked different and were "made/assembled" by JS Technologies in Marietta...

restored an old hydrualic floor jack. Anyone know the brand?

Wholly cow! I believe that I (my workplace) have a 45 year old jack made by the same company! Mine was labeled as Traveller brand and sold by Tractor Supply Company. My Label reads: Capacity 3,000 lbs. , Model No. 1-1639, Serial No. 7-75 I think this is the build date The...

    Grease or Antisieze - Hub/Rotor

I found the stuff in my link below when I was looking for a less expensive alternative to Honda (Dow) Molykote M77 for metal-to-metal, exposed-to-weather brake caliper lube. It is extremely tenacious. Try a dab on your palm under the faucet and it refuses to absorb any water like many other...

Leg protection for electric (battery) chainsaw

There are several YouTube videos showing that chaps "seem" to work with battery powered chainsaws. They imply that corded electric saws are different.

"Shade tree" OBD2 scanner/software for 2014 Chevy Spark

Everyone's needs are different, but it sounds like you want a scan tool that will do "enhanced codes" but probably not one that has bidirectional control. Here's a few things that helped me narrow down the list a year ago: - You are probably looking at Autel, Launch, Foxwell, and Bluedriver if...

Looking for a more advanced DIY scanner

When looking at sub-$250 units, be aware that many of them lag 3-4 years behind in mfg. coverage. Go to each scan tool mfg. site and dig into the vehicle applications list to verify that your models are covered. Even then, most of the cheaper ones will have some glitches regarding coverage.

    Chain Saw Recommendation

There is a reason that Stihl has kept the MS250 around years after the its replacement 251 was introduced. At my workplace we have plenty of the pro series saws. But, we also have numerous MS250's around that are used for lightweight work and they just keep running and running. Because they...

    Torque Wrenches

I had always read that J.S. Technologies made the Danaher torque wrenches: SK, Craftman, NAPA, Armstrong, etc.. Do you have more info on the Sturtevant Richmont/Danaher association?

Precision Instruments And Their Rusty Torque Wrench

I took a peek inside my 10 year old 1/2" and 3/8" PI split beam wrenches and there is no rust in either. My wrenches are stored in an non air conditioned shop and are exposed to summer humidity. While it may not be a problem, there is the principle that you bought something brand new and the...

    Digital torque wrench recommendation.

If you study engineering forums a bit, you will learn that the entire torque process is capable of being off +/- 25% or more. This makes the idea of 1% accuracy difference in torque wrench models a moot point.

My Kobalt torque wrench just died...repair or replace?

I'm guessing that JS Technologies in Georgia made those U.S. made torque wrenches. They were part of Danaher/Apex that included torque wrenches marketed by Armstrong, KD, Gearwrench, NAPA,Craftsman, maybe SK, and some others. I wonder if JS Technologies exists anymore...

    Brake Bleeding

Yes, any real silicone grease will work, either silicone brake grease or dielectric grease. Sil-glyde is not silicone, nor are numerous "synthetic" PAO brake greases. 3M 08946 Clear Silicone Paste is one example. I only take care of one car, so no special tools for me. I use the tube and...

Calling all auto techs, what's the best affordable code reader?

You probably won't beat that Foxwell in the bidirectional catagory. Autel has the Diaglink model that Amazon regularly has "fire deals" on for $87 delivered. It is the DIY version of the 802. It has a slightly smaller screen vs. the 802. It comes with one vehicle brand software. You can...
