    Time for Vehicle Lift

    Time for Vehicle Lift

I lift my 8000lb Excursion with a 10K Rotary, but I bet your dually is heavier. I'd go 12K, if so. I'm an inground lift guy, but they are eye-watteringly expensive to install into an existing floor. Mark

    where to put levels

I hang 6', 4' and 2' levels on one long Gladiator hook (longest in back, of course). It a previous garage with tight space but lots of shelving, I'd hang each level on two nails from the front of a shelf's trim plate. Mark

UPDATE: Using existing outside outlet to power another through conduit

Thanks for your help on this, guys. I forgot when I first posted that I want to add a ceiling fan, too. It seems straightforward, but I'm hoping you guys can help me with a couple of details, and any potential issues. Referencing the photo below: 1) The roof panel has a fan beam (essentially a...

UPDATE: Using existing outside outlet to power another through conduit

I thought about that, but wasn't sure I could just drill a hole in the new box to egress the wire. Mark

UPDATE: Using existing outside outlet to power another through conduit

I have an existing outlet on the outside of a 40+ year old home in FL. We added an enclosed patio, and ran conduit under the pavers to where we need another outlet. What's the right way to get the wiring in the wall out to the conduit, while still powering outlets in the existing location? It...

    Replacing original air hose ends?

I set it down that way for the photo, as it exposed the tear in the outer layer. It normally just hangs from the reel. Even so, your point is well taken. When using a tool, the weight of the hose down to the floor is hanging from the end of the tool, so strain relief is a good idea. Mark

    Replacing original air hose ends?

To what 90* strain are you referring? On perhaps a related note, have any of you used the Milton S-659 swivel fittings on the end of a hose that sees a lot of air tool use? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002SQYU0?tag=atomicindus08-20 I'm going to try one on this new hose. It seems like it might...

    Replacing original air hose ends?

Thanks for all the help, guys. Lots of options. I love the idea of just reversing the hose, but I noticed the hose reel end is starting to expand, too, so I'll probably just replace the hose. I have three reels in the shop, but this is the only one that's under pressure all the time, and is the...

    Replacing original air hose ends?

The hose ends on some of my HF hose reels are starting to fail, and I'd like to replace them. A barbed fitting and hose clamp would "work", but would create another thing to maintain, and be a pain to drag around the shop. Are there more elegant solutions, or is just replacing the hose the best...

Building but 15' height limit and a lift

Since you're starting from scratch, how about an in-ground like the Rotary SmartLift? No posts to fool with, so your height limit is whatever you're lifting and the ceiling. Mark

So I've been thinking of getting a car/truck lift in my garage....

What kind of work do plan to do, and it's possible you might? Do you need to store cars on whatever lift you get? What kind of space do you have? Those questions will drive your decision. Personally, I do suspension work on our trucks, plus basic maintenance on our daily drivers, with no need to...

Garage looks too big, so my boss says. Any design ideas appreciated.

Finish it. Make the trim and windows match the house and it'll look great. She'll chill. Mark

    Infuriated!

General inflation is 30-32% since 2016, so you know you're going to pay 130% of what you paid before, *before considering supply and demand changes*. If the companies involved are public, read their 2016 and 2023 10Ks. If they are "screwing everyone", you'll large differences in gross or...

Ever leave the house and wonder if you shut the garage door?

I've not tried it, but I believe IFTTT will let you do that: https://www.digitaltrends.com/home/how-to-connect-myq-garage-with-alexa/#:~:text=Those%20who%20have%20Alexa%20devices,platform%20for%20a%20small%20fee. Mark

Ever leave the house and wonder if you shut the garage door?

Sorry! It's an app called If This, Then That. You pass it your login credentials to different services - MyQ and Smart Life, in my case - and setup a relationship between an action in one service and an action in another. In my case, I wanted the garage lights to come on anytime the garage door...

Ever leave the house and wonder if you shut the garage door?

Being a belt and suspenders type, and a chronic self second guesser, I use MyQ to shut the doors (both garage doors and man doors) and monitor their status, and have cameras setup that can see all the doors. I never use auto-close, though, since I want to actually see and verify nothing is in...

Porcelain Tile and Floor Jacks/Jack Stands

We just used Redguard - nasty stuff - and had zero cracks in the six years we owned the house after. Six inches of concrete over a well prepped base with rebar. Floor jacks and jack stands are a non-issue. I chipped my floor only one time, by dropping an entire Dana 44 that landed on the pinion...
