Reset breakers, house power still out.

I agree that leaving stuff to the pros is the best idea if your not sure of something. However it wasn't so much resetting a breaker obviously he did that correctly, it just doesn't do any good if the main is shot.

Sounds like I was originally right about it being a guy wire. When I get home later today I'll go out and have a better look, maybe I can see a grounding wire on the pole, might be on the opposite side facing away from my house.

I was originally under the impression it was a guy wire, however it does sage like in the first picture, which makes me think it may be a grounding wire.

The entire reason it is attached to the front half of the garage is because of the poles grounding wire that runs into my backyard, it is in the picture going from the pole to below the window in the old section of the garage, I can't exactly have that going in threw my wall and down into the...

It will be 26x34 if I can get the poles grounding wire relocated without costing me, instead of a L shape. It depends what the power company says when I call them.

I've been all over the map on what to do with a garage placement, however considering it could be started next summer I need to decide. I haven't found out yet what the cost to me is going to be for relocating a power pole grounding wire, if any, however I have a new idea for a garage reno...

Ran out of room in the Garage...

I use this to my benefit, well its almost the same. I used to have no heat in my basement besides when the furnace cut in, however with the basement being below ground it was cold all the time, floor was cold upstairs all the time. I installed a couple heaters in the basement to keep that warm...

What have you bought for you garage that you "had to have" that you never use?

Re: What have you bought for you garage that you "had to have" that you never use? I can add my Dodge Challenger to the list, bought it, used it for the first summer, bought a motorcycle and might have used it twice since.

What Do You All Do for Fire Extinguishers?

Hot smoke, or hot air would be a hot gas would it not? The heat in the attic in my garage after installing my new heater would argue with your idea that heat doesn't rise. Heater on blast, temp in garage ~10C, temp in attic ~18-20C, temp outside ~7C.

    Anyone else work midnights

    Wooden Floor?

Only reason I'm really considering it is due to cost, concrete was my first choice but at over $250 a square yard its a bit much for what it is going to be used for. My old man had a shed probably 12x12 with wooden floor, framed out the floor with 2x4 on the concrete blocks, it held 2 sleds and...

    Wooden Floor?

I was thinking 4x4 in staggered concrete blocks, with 2x6 on top of that, then 3/4" or 5/8" plywood. My yard is pretty level.

    Wooden Floor?

Okay this isn't so much for a garage I guess, more of a large shed. I'm thinking about a 20x20 shed to store my toys in to get them out of the garage for more room for my car. I was originally thinking concrete floor, but now I'm thinking maybe wooden would be a bad idea to save cash. It will...

4x8 shed against wall - with pictures!

I was looking at building a 20x20 shed to store my quad, bikes and sleds in, maybe a floor like that would be okay, however I want a heater in it, so maybe concrete would be better. Something else for me to think about...this site puts too many ideas in my head. :lol_hitti

4x8 shed against wall - with pictures!

I should do this in my yard up against my garage. Would get the snow shovel/rake/water hose in the winter out of the garage.

    Dilemma

Oops, thought I had done that before, fixed now, and yes Canada hehe. The issue is this town was originally owned by the mine that set up here, so the town was built quickly, at the time they would hire on 500 people in a week and might have been lucky if 30 lasted, because people didn't want...

    Dilemma

Okay my original plan in the next couple years was to tear down my current 18x26 garage and build a new 38x24. Now other then a few small issues with my current garage (nothing that makes it unusable) I ran into a little dilemma regarding what I should do. I'll give a bit of information first...

    Me and My Son

I wish I had some of the memories you guys had, maybe me and my dad would get along better, instead of the constant arguing we do now. My dad was the type that worked all the time when I was younger, and didn't know how to use a tool to save his life, he just paid people to do everything for...
