How do you find contractors - need advice

I've had luck with very few contractors. Seems they never want to return your calls, or show up when they said they would. It's almost like, what part of shut up and take my money don't you understand?

Best options for steel building insulation

So, I contacted Versatube and they assured me that spray foam insulation would have no effect on my warranty, and that they would even put that in writing!

    New 30x40

You got that right. Fortunately I have my slab poured already in preparation. Gotta do it in stages lol

    New 30x40

What was your approx cost on that pole barn kit? I'm looking to build the exact same size building and I'm torn between this and a pre fabbed steel kit.

Best options for steel building insulation

Thanks for the help guys. Yes, I think closed cell foam is gonna be it. I'm still coming out ahead in price versus putting up a stick building. By at least $10,000

Moving out of state - what to do with tools?

Never in a million years would I trust my shop equipment to anyone but myself. Last time I moved from Vegas to Colorado Springs, I rented the biggest Penske truck I could get, with a Tommy Gate, and stuck my huge Snap on box, compressor, welders, AND my disassembled 2 post lift in there, and we...

Best options for steel building insulation

I might have to go with the rigid foam panels and glue them to the ceiling, but I'm concerned with the R-value. I think maybe spray foam might be my best bet.

Best options for steel building insulation

This will be an open span Versatube span, with no trusses in the way, so I'm kind of lost on how I will able to get insulation to stay on the ceiling.

    Wood burner and insurance qualifications

I wouldn't and couldn't ever do this, there's too much flammable stuff around, and I paint in my garage. Go for electric or gas. Better off in the long run.

Adjusting Bendpak HD-7W cables, issue with LF post lock

You know, I'm not sure. I know BendPak makes a direct drive 2 post, but I'm unaware of a 4 post version.

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT ZMotorsports Home and 50x60x16 Shop/RV Garage

I just read through all 96 pages, took me 2 days. HOLY ****, is that one awesome personal garage. I'm quite jealous, because I live in Colorado Springs, and city zoning says you can't build a garage with more sq feet than the footprint of your house (and I'm in about 1250 sq ft) and also, I...

Adjusting Bendpak HD-7W cables, issue with LF post lock

This is exactly why I stay away from cable type lifts. I prefer direct drive only. One time about 10 years ago at a Saturn dealer I was working at, we had a lift cable snap with a car in mid air and it was a terrifying experience for the guy under it. The locks caught it, but it sounded like...

Best options for steel building insulation

Hello guys, I'm going to have a 30x40x12 Versatube building put up in my back yard for my new personal automotive shop. I live in Colorado Springs, so it gets very cold regularly, obviously I need to insulate this thing very well. I was leaning towards spray foam (closed cell), because of the...

    Wash bay/ Spray booth lighting

With LED lighting the risk is negligible, especially if you have adequate ventilation/crossflow.

    Wash bay/ Spray booth lighting

LOL, I built my own spray booth and kept it simple. I Just framed it in, and flush mounted twin LED fixtures on the walls and ceiling, then finished off the inside with foil backed insulation panels to reflect as much light as possible. I then covered the square openings for the lights with...

Am I The Only One Who HATES LED Lights!?!?!?

I have about 8 LED light fixtures in my garage that are all wired together into what used to be the lone incandescent socket. They draw very little power and if you didn't know any better, you'd swear they WERE fluorescent. They have frosted covers over them and have a soft warm incandescent...
