Craftsman Drill Press Information Belts, Bearings, Chucks, Keys, etc…1946-1984

Glad you got the O-rings. As for the lower bearing on the spindle, you do not need to remove the thrust collar and I do not recommend it. The bearing can be pulled up the length of the spindle to remove it.

Craftsman Drill Press Information Belts, Bearings, Chucks, Keys, etc…1946-1984

Welcome DanyBallon and thanks for watch my YT channel. From the pics it looks like you are correct and the year is likely a 1952 or 1953 15.5” King Seeley 100 series. Did I come with a motor? If it’s a period correct motor that may also lead to some evidence of the date of production. Your...

Craftsman Block motor Bench Grinders - What's the Fuss (with resource information)

Good afternoon guys, with JZiggy’s assistance, I am new owner of a well used Craftsman 3/4hp 397.19450 block grinder. This is my 4th CM block/tombstone grinder. I have been looking for one of these with the support shafts coming from the quinch tray for some time. The grinder starts and runs...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Shiftless, thank you. After I soaked the vise, I discovered that there was a ¼” set screw that comes from the non-lock side of the vise and was absolutely causing the binding on the swivel base screw. There was no way for me to know about it until I got it cleaned up a bit. Lesson learned and I...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Hello all, so the Athol 644 1/2 is in the process now. The swivel jaw pin does look to be threaded. That means that I cannot simply force the pin up from inside the vise. I am still working on getting it loose. Anyway, I am doing a video series on it and here is the link if anyone is interested...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

CRSINMICH, thank you for the information and yes, knowing that the pin is possibly threaded is a big help, I was thinking of forcing it up from the through hole inside the vise but now I will need to rethink how to get it moving. I am hoping that after the week long soak it will free up some...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Good morning all, I am working on an Athol 644 ½ that has a swivel base and swivel jaw. Sorry for the pics, these were from a friend before I had the vise in my hands, and it is currently sitting in a degreasing tank. The swivel jaw and lock pin are currently seized. I will eventually...

11b30b4’s Vintage Craftsman Powr-Panl and Power-Pak Information thread.

I am not sure he will chime in but in the many power panls I have rewired, the reason I rewire is to adapt the panel to a grounded panel. The panel has a male plug on the backside that you use an extension cord with. As for most of my motors, if I am using a power panel then I shorten the cord...

    11b30b4’s Craftsman 113.27520 10” Table Saw Rebuild

Both toggle switches work as expected. I plug the motor into the motor side of the power panel and plug the power panel into the wall. I leave the motor toggle switched on. When I switch the toggle on the power panel to on the motor turns on, when I switch it off the motor turns off. Keep in...

Craftsman Drill Press Information Belts, Bearings, Chucks, Keys, etc…1946-1984

Very nice. Also I think the idea that the removed support was initially included to help support the quill in operations other than drilling is likely. Craftsman pushed several accessories that let you use the drill press as a shaper, mill, drum sander etc. This trend continued to the bandsaw/...

Craftsman Drill Press Information Belts, Bearings, Chucks, Keys, etc…1946-1984

Just a guess on my part but when the quill is fully retracted it is supported by the (1) bottom bore, the (2) middle support just above the pinion, the (3) top support (that was later omitted) and the (4 & 5) bearing bores for the spindle pulley assembly totaling 5 supports. When the quill is...
