The stuff on the shelf behind my computer was looking a bit dusty, so I wandered down to the shop, fired up the compressor, and blew the dust off some items including this 14” high open segmented vase my Dad turned a few years ago. He used to give out handmade ornaments, and turned wood...

Hi @rharman, always happy to trigger fond memories. I also remember lots of Briggs & Stratton repairs with my dad. He used to drive around with me in the late 60's on the neighbourhood junk days and fish old lawnmowers out of the piles. It was always super embarrassing when he would have me...

I do enjoy building shelves, brackets, drawer dividers, and other items to help keep the clutter down. Organizing the tool wall was a particularly fun activity. However, I did have to re-build a couple of the floating shelves as I used the wrong screws. The 3/4” plywood walls in my shop are...

I spent this morning building shelves in the new garage closet. I used the old treated 3/4" plywood & lumber from this summer's deck demo project. It was nice to re-purpose this treated wood that I had temporarily patched the deck up with about 10 years ago. Even without paint & trim, I am...

Thanks @frojoe I did think I was somewhat organized, then I saw your toolbox setup on your garage thread....Wow, your wrench layout in particular (y) I actually started to build a garage closet a few days ago to clean up the one remaining cluttered part of the garage. I am looking forward...

Thanks @mmsheb I enjoy building shelfs, cabinets, brackets, and anything else I can use to keep tools and supplies readily at hand. I find a tidy shop a soothing place to be after a stressful day. Sure, it's 36"H, 36"W, 12"D. Yes on the 1x4, and I used normal 1.5" cross bars in the shed...

Hi @Xti04 , glad you gave Zwift a try, sorry it wasn't for you. I do find it a bit boring when riding by myself, but the races & group rides can be fun. Where else can you ride with Tour de France winners such as Brad Wiggins or Geraint Thomas on their club rides. I do also have a gravel...

Haven’t tried that, but some years I do some pots in a 3 layer lasagna planting. The dwarf iris bulbs come out almost as early, followed by the mini daffs, and finally the tulips. It’s great that you have the space to overwinter things like the brugmansia. A touch of the tropics…nice!

Argh, darn rodents! I did the same thing a couple days ago with 1”x 1” wire mesh cut in circles to cover the tulip bulbs in pots. The tulips grow up through the mesh. My issue isn’t mice, but rather an army of squirrels to battle with.

This past weekend's club ride was likely the last for the season. It was time to wash the Bianchi, clean & lube the chain, charge up the Di2 shifter battery, and tuck the bike away for the winter. Then I dragged the trainer & ancient Norco road bike out of storage, fired up the dormant...

That is so cool. For some reason, I always thought the requirement for those labels was much more recent. Garage is looking great 👍

Thanks @yhprum I wasn't planning to replace the plastic lines, as I didn't think they deteriorated like all the rubber does. Then I gently pushed one out of the way to access a cam cover nut, and the line just snapped...incredibly brittle!! It was super easy to replace the plastic lines...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Dragged the bike trainer out of storage, and swapped the 9 speed for a 10 speed cassette. Set up the old Norco bike and fired up the Zwift account. All ready for the indoor racing season.

I find it fascinating to see the signs of the hand built nature of these Enzo era cars. Ferrari was really small in 1983 with only about 2,200 cars produced that year. Some aspects of their production seem like a current day race car fabricator, or a custom car shop. Just like some do when...

Sawzall Time! When re-installing the engine, I couldn’t get it to fit, so I cut off part of the subframe with a reciprocating saw. For an hour or more I struggled to drop the body the final 2 “ over the engine but there just wasn’t enough room for 1 of the 3 mounting points of the injection...

Making the braided stainless fuel lines was fun! I have always admired the braided stainless lines on race cars and hot rods, so it was fun to learn how to do it myself. After really messing up my first sample cut which frayed badly, I turned to Garage Journal and found yet another awesome tip...
