Storing Tools in Hot AZ Garage: What Shouldn't Be Kept There?

I've lived in Ahwatukee and Mesa, and have operated LOADED equipment service trucks all over the southwest for five years. Tools and batteries will be just fine. Tape and waxes will likely soften on you and solvent based products will disappear into thin air unless well sealed. Don't over...

Home HVAC units--- get ready to install new???

MY QUESTIONS. Answers in green. 1. Can a unit from the 2000's be fixed if there is a leak. That depends on where the leak is. 2. Downstairs unit could be colder... Pay to have it charged? I would, yes. I would also pony up to have the leak located and identified so you can make a more...

Trane or American Standard for house AC?

Trane today is a completely different company and product quality than Trane 15 years ago, following their purchase by Ingersol Rand in 2008. The "value engineering" became obvious in the following years.

    Lennox evaporator coil leaking

Single floor or two floors in your home? Where are you located? Upstate New York, or Phoenix, AZ? What model units do you have? Lennox does have some expensive ECM condenser fan motors that cost around $650 each. Every brand is a **** shoot from a reliability standpoint these days.

    Propane Generators?

Fuel burn rate changes as engine load goes up or down, due to requiring more fuel (btu) needed to create the additional power. Your post is very misleading and factually incorrect.

Where to find water to air Heat exchanger?

Compare to trans coolers made by Derale. I doubt they are the maker of the HX, however this might help narrow your search.

    Buying from Grainger?

Still $335, but I get free ground shipping. Some things we get no discount on and other things we pay pennies on the dollar it seems like. And we really have not negioated much at all for a steeper discount, unlike a former employer who negioated hard and subsequently gave all of their business...

What's the part and what's the advertised cost? I'm curious to see if I get it cheaper.

Need new 2 ton house heat pump - advice needed

Go with the cheaper unit for the reasons mentioned above. The installers cost of equipment is likely in the $1800-2500 range, depending on which air handler they're using. I have a Lennox on my house, and I'll replace it with another Lennox or a Carrier when the time comes.

Real Stihl Green vs Yellow Chain Experience

Correction regarding my purchase: I bought a 291, not a 271. I had been looking at a 271, as well as a 261, but ultimately settled on the 291 with a 20" bar.

Real Stihl Green vs Yellow Chain Experience

I bought a 271 just yesterday. Good timing for this topic! I bought two 20" green chains with it and I'm guessing I'll be disappointed for what I need to do first with this saw which is drop nine trees 18-25" diameter and turn them into firewood. If I may ask, how much did you pay for yours...

    Partially flooded heatpump

If the cabin flooded in 2011, any water in the compressor connection has long since evaporated. Leave it be lest you risk ripping off a rusted termination and trashing the compressor.

    Heat pump

A hea pump is nothing more that's a standard spilt air conditioner with the addition of a reversing valve and extra TXV which allows the unit to run has a heater when desired. You need to find the root cause of your units inability to keep up, which is driving your large electric bills.

    Grounding a Portable Generator

Contact with "the ground" is not required, for any reason. Nor is a ground rod required because of any isolation from earth created by tires. You are correct though that GFI's are required.

    Copper through concrete floor?

My entire freshwater plumbing distribution in Ahwatukee and Mesa, AZ was copper through slab in 1988 build's. As for something I'd build today: It would be sleeved in PVC with a gap between the copper and PVC to allow room for expansion, contraction, and sheer. Fill the gap with foam or caulk...
