    Hf Inside track

does the 10% off have a list of exclusions, like the 20% off coupons do? if not ... then why not use a 20% off coupon?

    How were driver sizes decided?

This is an interesting topic. There's usually incentive to not interoperate, and lock consumers into your brand. See the stupidity in the US cellphone industry, for example. I like the WWII explanation... but it'd be nice to know if it's actually true.

    Strut Sockets

dwvcfii, if you aren't already doing this, you should have your webserver look at the Referrer header and serve or not serve the image accordingly. I'd suggest serving an error code instead of an image since you're so bandwidth conscious. All 899 views of this thread must cost you tens of...

    wtb metric long wrenches

If you're set on that wrench set, this double set for $105.99 has both std length and long (the set you want): http://www.tooltopia.com/kd-tools-81920promo.aspx You could flip the standard length wrench set, and save some nickels. I tried to piece together a large-ish KD full polish metric set...

    HOT DEAL Index!!

It's not quite the same. The normal 20% coupon is off of a single item, while this one is off of an order > $100. If you buy lots of little stuff, you'd save more using the "new" one.

A short ratchet tutorial. Dissembling, lubing, and spring clipping

That one's like any of the round-head ratchets listed here once you have it open. To get it open, you can use needle nose pliers to remove the retaining clip, kinda like the v series craftsman's lever in the write up you quoted.

    Metrinch

There are 2 kinds of sockets branded Metrinch. There's the combination of inch and metric "12 point" socket: and there's the 6 point wavy socket type that were on the informercial: the 62 piece set was the infomercial one AFAIK. There's some insane pricing at http://www.metrinch.tv/ I've...

    The awwwww F@c# moment!

The morning of a practice day, just before a race, I decided it was time to change the oil on the car in the paddock. I busted out the 17mm gearwrench x beam wrench and required other stuff. It started to rain, so I hustled under the front of the car, lying parallel to the plug to avoid the...

    Which Torque Wrench to Buy???

+1 on HF 1/2" for lug nuts and casual automotive use. I've seen racers I trust claim they have calibrated very close to dead on. The $9.99 deal is in a coupon in automotive mags. At that price, it's worth picking one up just for lug nuts because of the probability of it being roughed up a...

best way (and tools) to get tint off car windows

+1 on ammonia. Find a cleaner in a spray bottle that's ammonia based but scented. Spray down the glass, put a garbage bag over the panel so it doesn't dry up, and let it sit in the sun for 30 minutes. It should soften up and come off easily with a razor blade.

    HF 3 ton floor jack

Just to make this clear for anyone else reading along: this is true of all jacks, HF or not. If you're under the car, it must have jackstands supporting it. I evangelize this rule in the paddock at races all the time. People getting hurt or dying because a car fell on them is just dumb.
