    Lift & expansion joint

Was getting ready to order a Bendpak XPR-10C lift, when I came to the realization that the guy who poured the floor cut an expansion joint right through the middle of the bay where the lift will go. So looks like the lift pads would be right over the cut. I assume this is not acceptable...

Cheap walmart T-8 48" light fixtures ok ?

I'm looking for T8, dual bulb, 4 footers. On the Home Depot website I see Lithonia model 172J2C for $19.97. On the Lithonia website I see model 1245, which I found for $21.99. I emailed Lithonia to ask if these are the same, they wrote me back and said no. When I asked for more details, got no...

Cheap walmart T-8 48" light fixtures ok ?

Went to 3 Walmarts over the weekend and managed to find 5 of the T8 fixtures (I nee 12-15). Finally asked a dept manager if he could order these for me, and he said he had 10 coming in and would hold them for me. So I go home and plug them in for a few hours, and 3 out of the 5 have...

    Ceiling color?

Mike, A buddy of mine was wearing the same shirt as your Avatar, and went in to a Waffle House here in Virginia and they refused to serve him because of the shirt!! In a Waffle House, they should have bowed to him !

    Ceiling color?

Question for those with gray wall color- is your ceiling white or gray? I plan to paint the lower 4' of my walls medium gray, and the upper part silver gray. Not sure if the ceiling would be ok in gray. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ron

    Hot Dawg size help needed

Good info. My space is 12,1840sf so looking at the chart I think a 60k would do. I assume thats output BTUs, correct? Which would be a 75K unit? They list both input & output in the spec sheet.

Lifting garage ceiling to fit lift?

I just modified 6 of my trusses to increase the ceiling height in one bay from 10' to 12'6". In fact it was just inspected by the county today and passed fine. I had the truss company make me a drawing that had an engineer's stamp on it. Cost me $100 for the engineering work. See thread here...

    Truss mod for lift

Pattenp - Not interested in lifting vans, but did think about that. Not set on symmetrical vs assymetrical yet. Leaning towards Bendpak XPR-10AC. Thoughts? Ezover - Cost me just $100 for the engineering work via email. They already had the paperwork from the original trusses. I just said I...

    Truss mod for lift

Afternoon, I've read several posts here with people asking about modifying trusses. The usual answer was telling them to have an engineer approve the work. So I actually had the truss company do a design mod so I could raise the middle of the bottom chord from the current 10' ceiling height up...

    wire: 10-2 or 10-3 ?

My understanding is that a 50a welder circuit can use 10ga wire because of the short duty cycle. Whereas a 50a circuit for say a large electric space heater would need the heavier wire. But I'm not an electrician So when do you use 10-3 (or **-3) for anything? For multi-phases?

    wire: 10-2 or 10-3 ?

Question about when to use 10-2 or 10-3. For my 240v welder circuit I planned to use 10-2 wire with a 50amp breaker. The welder plug has 3 prongs, so I assume 10-2 is correct. Or is it? Same question about the 240v lift circuit. My 240v compressor was previously connected with 12-2. Thanks, Ron

    How to do load calc?

So then if 200amp sounds right for the house, the garage is gonna need its own 100amp service to handle the additional load. Correct? Thanks

    How to do load calc?

Stuart in MN, I filled out that load sheet for the house and it says 267 service amps needed for the house. Does that sound right? My 2 heat pumps and 2 air handlers (with emergency heat) yielded 32160 watts @ 100% per the sheet. By my calculations for the garage, if I ran all these at the same...

    How to do load calc?

Hi Y'all, Just completed my 40x30 detached and trying to determine if my houses's 200amp service can also handle the garage. The house is all electric, with 2 heat pumps, 2 air handlers, electric stove, electric hot water, electric dryer, well pump, plus all the usual small stuff. I had the...

    Thru-wall Heat/AC ?

Now that I've thought about it overnight, I really don't need the AC, just need heat. So will look into Mr Heater or Hot Dawg. I hear propane is expensive, but only other choice would be electric which is proably even more costly, correct? For 1200sf, how many BTUs needed? 60k,75k? Thanks, Ron
