are the usa craftsman torque wrenches worth spending tbe money to have recalibrated?

How would you go about testing it against maybe a beam style? Tighten a bolt to a certain torque, like 60 lbs and then try the beam style to see if the bolt turns?? Isnt "breakaway" torque harder to overcome??? Just try to understand because I want to test mine.

Craftsman 942041 short locking flex ratcheting flex head set no 14mm WTF

The fractional (SAE) set doesn't come with an 11/16 either. I bought a single GearWrench to have the whole set. I work on mostly older American stuff that does have 11/16 nuts (front suspension) so I needed it, not just to fill the set.

Recommendation for quieting my compressor pump

Mine is still sitting on the shipping pallet after 5 years, its still pretty noisy. I don't think the rubber mat underneath is going to quiet it down as much as you would like.

The Northern Tool PASS / FAIL thread

I have that reel hanging from my ceiling. It works fine except a lot of times it is hard to get the last 3-4 feet rolled up. Its like the outer box isn't big enough for all the cord to fit in it. You have to feed the cord in carefully to get it all rolled up.

The Chinese Vise Grips vs the USA made

I found that the threads on the adjustment bolt are very rough on the chinese Vise Grips. I couldn't screw it in with my fingers, I had to run a die down the threads to clean them up.

    Air sanders

Hutchins! You wont be sorry. The cheapys will do the job but will beat you to death if you use it much, not to mention they jump around so much its hard to get close to a flat surface. I used mine in a production body shop for 20 years and finally it got to where it didn't want to work, I...

    Dial Indicators

I build a lot of high perf rearends, ring and pinion, bearings, posi units, seals and the like. I have a Starrett but it is pretty old, I recently bought a cheapy chinese dial indicator just in case (I hate chinese tools, I know "tool snob") anyway, the chinese indicator gives me the same...

    My favorite hammer

Yep, that was it exactly. No it wasnt heat treated but it still works for small brads and nails or for shaping small parts.

    My favorite hammer

I made this in high school shop class 40 years ago. I dont use it a lot but it is functional. The little hole drilled in the side of the head shows that it was graded by the teacher. I also made an aluminum meat tenderizer mallet that my wife still uses.

    Good Deal?

I guess my question is, are they worth it? Depends on you and what you want to do. If you really want to be a bodyman these arent bad prices. If you just want to fool around with hammering on sheet metal you can get similar tools at Harbor Freight for less than $100 bucks. I am not a big fan of...

How many of you guys have one of these??

I found this in my Step fathers garage after he died, I've never seen one of these and almost hurt myself trying to figure out what it was and how to use it :headscrat. I figured out that its for pulling nails. I have no idea how old it is buts its made by Crescent.

tool trucks geared towards auto mechanics???

When I wrenched for a living in an Olds/Honda dealership the customers werent allowed in the shop to see what kind of boxes or tools we used. I also worked as a body man at the same dealership, the bodymen had the worst looking, dirtiest and beat up boxes I had ever seen. My Craftsman was one...

    The Transamarobird swallows another victim!

My daily driver is a 95 Z28 convertible, you would be surprised what I can haul with the top down. One time I carried 4 12' 4x4 posts home in 12 degree weather with the top down. Drop the top and fold down the back seat and load it up.
