    Needle bearing to shaft preload/clearance?

Sorry I was flying in the air during the middle of the day. Given what I see in all the threads I think you might be right to use the bronze bushing but if you want I can check some books tomorrow so see if my SWAG was close today. What I can do is double check the hardness requirement and...

    Needle bearing to shaft preload/clearance?

I would not recommend modifying the shaft in anyway. From my keyboard I would guess it currently has the correct shape, hardness and finish.

    Needle bearing to shaft preload/clearance?

The rollers should be around 60-62 Rockwell... The shaft can/should be 2-4 points less.

    Needle bearing to shaft preload/clearance?

I’m traveling so I don’t have all my typical resources with me but the INA website should tell you what clearance is expected. If not you can go to our SKF website and check, off the top of my head I would expect somewhere in the range of 25-40 microns before installation in the crank but after...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Jeff's Mountain Side Shop (Portland)

Awesome, sounds like a good system. I think we could see the 4" overflow in some of the pictures you attached. Now it makes sense what I was looking at in the picture.

Above 1200 Sq/FT Jeff's Mountain Side Shop (Portland)

I was just going to ask the same thing about the small 1" pipe getting clogged. Is this a case of a larger diameter pipe being used for the run but there is a "restrictor plate" used to throttle the water leaving the tank or is it 1" diameter for the entire 1000' run?

    Advice from those witha 30x30

I have a 30 x 28 x 12 with a single 16x8 door in the center. I got the single door for the exact reason you are considering it and I works as advertised. I park three cars lined up on the inside of the garage but for the most part I have to pull the center car out to get at the other two...

Suggestions: Brake Rotor Caliper or Micrometer

To me it's about significant digits. What I mean is a caliper is typically good for two to three decimal places depending on the brand and quality. Micrometers are typically good to four decimal places. What is the requirement of the rotors to know if they are in or out of specification? I...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Jeff's Mountain Side Shop (Portland)

I don't want to stray too far off topic of this beautiful house build thread but both of your ideas are interesting to me as I like air blowing on me at night. Oh and a **** woman sounds fun too but I'll leave that to my wife and I doubt she'll fan me all night so I guess I'm stuck with the USB...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Jeff's Mountain Side Shop (Portland)

Okay dumb question time... But first amazing house and thanks for taking the time to share because it inspires all of us. For the dumb question, you talked about motion sensors in the rooms and I was wondering to what extent they control the power and lights. The reason I ask is more a...

68x27 automotive performance shop at home

Awesome deal and I agree you have done a good job making it look as close to your house as possible. I added a 25x30 garage addition to an existing 25x30 detached about 8 years ago. The newer section has 11 foot ceilings so it's taller similar to yours. My neighbor, who helped dig the...

    Steve in Montana

Steve and Jonathan - I'm out on the East coast but Kalispell, the Flathead Valley and Glacier is a top favorite location for my wife and I. Welcome to the board and I'm sure your tool collection will be welcome but don't be afraid to show any of the natural beauty that exists in your area.

Would you begin framing a large shop this late in the year?

Due to rain pushing the pour dates of my foundation it wasn't finished until November and my stick framing and roof were done by the second week of December when I did my 26 x 30 garage addition 7 years ago. Just this past weekend we put the truss's up on my father-in-law's 30 x50 garage. In...
