Unless you have exposed plumbing in the head in the garage it will take removing a section of wall and plumbing both the fresh water line and the drain line and that may be a bigger pain than doing the actual plumbing.

Can you run the chain around an idler sprocket and loop it back to the motor sprocket in a loop? With a piece in the chain at the right spot that connects the gate to the chain. It would be pulling either way that way.
