Cleaning up an old Scroll Saw

That saw was one of Sears' entry level scroll saws. I have one like it I haven't restored yet. You do have a few nice bonuses of having the original motor, a pretty decent lamp and a set of old Craftsman legs with it. I think you did really well at $10. If you care to put the work into it...

Simonds saw ID and cleaning help.

That one is in really nice shape. Most of my saws started out in far worse shape. It's easiest if you can remove the handle and lay the blade on a flat surface. It's not worth tearing up the handle if the nuts are stuck though. I'd wet sand with at least 600 grit sandpaper to start, maybe even...

    Bargain Hunting

I've gotten several good buys on tools in thrift stores. Mostly I'm into woodworking tools. Here's my latest find. An old Milwaukee 1/4" Hole Shooter, I'm guessing from the 30s. It was a $2.50 find. About $30 later -mostly for the new power cord, I need to source some cheaper alternatives-...

Critique my 12x12 Shed design please.

What are your plans for the shed? Just storage or a workshop? 2x4 joists will probably have some give to them. I would look at a minimum of 2x6 on your joists. Pressure treated wood adds up quickly on cost. Concrete may work out to be cheaper though a wood floor is more comfortable to stand...

Vintage 1/4" Milwaukee Hole Shooter Type S-114

Thanks! This was a fun project. Octoman: The case is grounded using one of the screws on the collar where the power cord leaves the drill handle. I hid the connector between the handle and collar. Probably not quite to current code. I think current standards require a dedicated ground screw...

Vintage 1/4" Milwaukee Hole Shooter Type S-114

I got it done. New grounded power cord, homemade strain relief, new brush caps and a couple new screws due to the buffer throwing them across the shop. All that's left is ordering in a new chuck key and it's good to go again. [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] Thanks, Rodney

1 day to ID and maybe buy.

I hope you end up getting them. That's a really neat looking vice. It should look great with a little work. Rodney

Vintage 1/4" Milwaukee Hole Shooter Type S-114

Hi, I'm new here. I've just been reading the last day or so. I know this thread is older but I just picked up an identical drill that I'm currently rebuilding. Looks like yours is in a lot better shape than where I'm starting from with mine. I have a question about the brush holder caps. I...
