    Snap-on Socket Series Help Needed

Can you post that page? I just got off of the phone with Snap-on customer service where I made an inquiry as to the warranty status of two items. The first was a GLDH302 3/4" drive 15/16" twelve point industrial finish socket. The second was a Midget GM-70M 1/4" drive ratchet. The guy put me...

    Snap-on Socket Series Help Needed

I had one of those that I broke some years back. The Snap-on dealer told me that the G was for Govt. (military) contract and that the standard warranty did not apply. They were originally warranted for something like one year to the Govt. ONLY. I've got a 1/4 drive midget ratchet around here...

Ever Wonder About The Craftsman Tools That Are Returned For Warranty?....

Agreed. That's pretty lax. I can remember when the Pontiac service rep would stop by the dealership every couple of weeks in the 1970's, he'd look at ALL parts that were replaced under warranty. If something was replaced that shouldn't have been, the claim was kicked back and payment denied...

    Where to Buy: Crowfoot holder

I did the same years back. I put an 1/8" roll pin on one end (the "big" end) and a standard hairclip pin at the other. I also drilled two holes in the clip end. One was near the end of the holder and the other was close up against the smallest crowfoot when all of each respective set were on...

    Ebay, second chance?

Is there any chance of the guy bidding against you having been a shill for the seller? If so, the second chance offer would be a useful tool for the seller and shill. They'd almost always be able to maximize their profits. Personally, I always delete all second chance offers without even...

    Stanley Tool Idenity

The large flat files that I have with that style of curved teeth are called dreadnought files. I don't know if the same name applies to the curved Stanley tool in question thought. Like I said, it's an uncommon name.

    Stanley Tool Idenity

I just had a thought. What's the radius of the curved surface? Maybe that'll give use a clue. I've a few large British made flat files of that tooth type but I don't remember what that specifice type of tooth style is called. It was a really uncommon name.

    The $100 Sears Armstrongs

I don't have a digital camera, but I'd swear that this is a mold parting line. Seriously. It just occured to me that I do have a flat bed scanner, This photo is from it. The large socket is the 32mm of conventional construction. The smaller socket is the 22 mm. It sure looks like mold parting...

    The $100 Sears Armstrongs

All of mine have both types of markings except the 42mm. It has the etched markings. But as far as stamping, it only has Armstrong USA stamped on it. No part number or size. I also noticed that among the smaller sizes, there are two different types of size stampings. The size stamped on the 23...

    Stanley Tool Idenity

Wooden boat building perhaps? Or, my first choice, a tool for a cooper. It might work for smoothing out the inside of the neck. In the event people don't really remember what a cooper is or does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooper_(profession)

    The $100 Sears Armstrongs

Re: The $100 Sears Armstrongs ROCK! Mine arrived a little while ago. Pretty flashy looking. My friends will be envious. Another hearty Thank You to the person that originally posted the link. It's a pretty good thing that I ordered the entire set verses just ordering the a 42mm socket which...

    Learn me about drill bits

I use Tap Magic Aluminum. I don't know why, but over the last few years, it's gotten harder to find anyone that stocks it. For cast iron, I don't use any lubrication at all for drilling or tapping.

    Learn me about drill bits

That'll work fine. I've got a gallon jug of exactly that setting a few feet from my drill press as I type. I use it to fill a hand pump squirter that I keep stuck to a big magnet on the column of my drill press with the chuck keys. The Ace stuff is easy to find and the price isn't too bad. DO...

Looking for a Hydraulic Jack Pad?

I'm glad you posted it. I'd never seen a grooved one before. I like the idea!

    The $100 Sears Armstrongs

This is the primary reason that I've been going thru my tools over the last few months. I've been getting the broken stuff warranted. Replacing the missing stuff, and buying this set for the 42mm socket. It was the only fastener on my tractor that I didn't have a tool to fit.

    The $100 Sears Armstrongs

I know the feeling, but that was a really good price. Come to think of it, I'd love to see them put the SAE set on sale for that price. Some of mine have gotten pretty ratty. I think we might continue to see some pretty good price markdowns on slower moving tools as the economy continues to...

Looking for a Hydraulic Jack Pad?

Interesting. I've never used a plastic one. I've always cut mine out of truck tire recaps thrown off onto the shoulder of the road. They're pretty tough and the price is right.

    The $100 Sears Armstrongs

I just checked the UPS tracking number that Sears emailed me last week and my set should be here tomorrow. Best of all, it was for not that much more money than just the 42mm socket that I've been needing would have costed.

    Learn me about drill bits

I fully agree. Most people do NOT know enough about drilling, especially in metal. From what I've observed, when using a drillpress, most people underfeed when drilling metals. Most people also use speeds set way too fast too, especially with medium to large diameter holes. It's easy to do an...

How much force from a pair of Visegrips?

I've never owned any imported ones, but once the teeth wear out, they get really sloppy, the spring breaks or falls out, or the wire cutter surfaces get notched, I put them in the welding tool box. You can never have enough vise grips in there anyway. That pretty much happens to all of the...
