Wrong way to heat your shop in Minnesota

Ok cool I'll check it when I get home, its got two separate provisions for heat and one for cool, the second spot on the switch where the gas is hooked up to says EMER which I assume is short for “emergency heat” or when its too cold for the heat pump???

Wrong way to heat your shop in Minnesota

Thanks Rick! but its been changed over to a White Rogers, I think it might have had a honeywell 8000 when it was first installed...not sure. Is it possible that its not hooked up right at the furnace itself? I know a couple of people that have been up there diggin around since the install.

Wrong way to heat your shop in Minnesota

Yeah I dont think it is set up correct, its been looked at a couple of times but nobody I know can figure it out. I even paid one guy to do it, He was able to get it close...I guess. Wrong way to heat your shop in Minnesota

Ha Ha must have posted close to the same time. It has a heat pump but it in the last 2 months the heat pump would kick on but then the gas would fire up anyway because it was so cold out. So I ended up just shutting the heat pump breaker off and just running the gas. Maybe I'll give it another...

Wrong way to heat your shop in Minnesota

Yeah I actually keep the stat set a little high..52-55 and crank it up to 70 when I'm out there. The furnace is new with the garage but its only an 80%. It does have a heat pump on it maybe I'll give that a try again.

Wrong way to heat your shop in Minnesota

Last year when I built my garage I screwed up real bad…I didn’t install in-floor heating:dunno: (went with a standard home furnace instead) and now I’m paying the super high gas bills and listening to the furnace blower all the time. The garage is 30’x25’x 12’ and has 2x6 studs (cant remember...

Garage door bowing in cold weather

Yeah its a very rare thing nowdays when a company steps up and does the right thing, but I got to give them a chance. This cant be normal, I have other friends with the same size door and they don’t have this problem. Its got to be some sort of design flaw. Is it because everything is bonded...

Garage door bowing in cold weather

Thanks sberry27! Why even have an insulated door if you have a 5+ inch gap at the top, r-value is pretty much meaningless. Oh well, I hope the door company does the right thing and fixes it or replaces it with one that doesn't bow.

Garage door bowing in cold weather

Has anybody had a problem with their garage door bowing in cold weather? I have a 18x8 Haas door and it bows pretty bad when the temps dip down, it gets real bad when the temps hit 10 degrees or lower. The company that installed the door gave me an extra wide seal for the top but it still wont...
