I agree completely with the comparison and the quality differences between the USA made sets and those made in China. The same goes for the Cross-Force series. USA-made Craftsman professional wrenches are still available at most Sears stores in the sets called "full polish" modules...

I went this morning to the store nearest me, which is still pretty far. Same experience as Matt M. Individual wrenches were about a buck off, and the sets are still more expensive than typical sale prices at other stores. If they treat these like typical clearance sales, the prices should...

Looks like all 4 sets are back on sale. I just got the ergo set because I don't know the difference between machinist and maintenance sets, and I don't need 30+ more files on top of the files I already own.

Can someone explain the difference between a maintenance file and a machinist file? Or are the sets the same, except one has handles and one doesn't?

Are these going to be on sale? And are the Hansen style holders (the new black ones) going to be on sale? I've been wanting to get a few sets of both. I don't remember seeing either in any flyers.

Just the inside tips are worn off, and there's no rub marks whatsoever deep in the slots, at the outside edges. Look at the black finish - it hasn't been touched. That tells me they were used for a non-torx fastener. Just as I posted in the other thread, I'd bet money someone incorrectly used...

I wonder if someone tried to use them on a hex fastener and stripped them.

I took another look at the HF bits last night. The package says chrome vanadium, but the torx bits themselves are clearly marked S2 chr van - all of them. In the GW set, only the smaller bits are S2 CV - the larger aren't. From your reviews, it sounds like either set would work for me. These...

I prefer to buy tools that can be instantly warrantied (if necessary) locally, rather than dealing with phone calls and shipping. I also prefer US-made tools, but in the case of torx there don't seem to be any affordable, acceptable quality options. So I bought both sets - GW ($22) and HF ($7)...

The Taiwan HF Pittsburgh torx set is about $7 on sale at HF. The Gearwrench 80722 torx set is about $21 on sale at AA. For anyone who has regularly used them, does the HF torx set have good fit and durability? And what about the Gearwrench torx set?
