Polishing aluminum engine cases with a rotary dremel...?

Ok now im doubting the Mil. m12 rotary dremel tool. Normally they come with 1.5a batteries. But I will be using the slightly bigger / better battery pack from my m12 FUEL impact gun which is a 2.0a battery! All this talk about needing a cord, will the m12 and a 2.0 battery be too weak? Anyone...

    tekton impact sockets

I thought id add this, I would never use these sockets as my everyday most common used sockets. Like 3/8 metric... Because these are WAYYY to thick, no finesse, and dont feel good in the hand. imo.

    Matco financing

Yeah that MAC box is no way worth 2k. I bought a like new blue Snap-on double decker for $2200 a few years ago "used". Check craigslist etc. I think it sounds like your options are buying used, or buying 1 or 2 harbor freight boxes. Paying MSRP and dealing with loans, interest, taxes probably...

Polishing aluminum engine cases with a rotary dremel...?

Thanks wad, syd, and hop! Great polishing kit pictures of your setup wag. Polishing Alum. is time consuming especially prepping it before hand with ~220 - 800 grit sandpaper or taking the old clearcoat off. Wagzilla, in the first picture I noticed your BlueMagic polishing cream. That stuff works...

Polishing aluminum engine cases with a rotary dremel...?

I was hoping to get more replies but thanks. Sounds promising. one good thing about rotaries is that they have very high RPMs so as long as the m12 ha enough power it should be good. do you have any recommendations on cotton or wool Dremel buffing pad or cloths? Do you use half or one inch...

Modifications to the HF 4 and 5 drawer service carts - what changes have you made?

I drilled out the rivets for the locks on the 5 drawer red cart. Those lock were so annoying, if i want to lock it i shut the top lid real quick.

    Matco financing

So get 2 HF boxes that are 56" and the similar specs as a Matco box, save $3500 and have two instead of one? I think a lot of people might make space. You are paying for the name Matco, and a ~%20 better box. In the end it depends if you want the cool box or save some money. You might have it...

    socket storage

I like these, can be pricey but 16g powdercoated steel and lock / no pressure slip on black clips make it all worth it.

    Matco financing

A name brand box is nicer sure, but its not worth the thousands of extra dollars. Steel is steel, and ball bearings are all round. There isnt going to be much of a diff. going with a Harbor Freight box. It may not be able to hold as much weight, but you can cheaply buy a 2nd or 3rd Harbor...

Polishing aluminum engine cases with a rotary dremel...?

Getting into the tight contours of an engine block and aluminum side covers and fins can be difficult with anything but small buffing wheels or cones. I was thinking of getting a dremel / rotary with variable speeds, and some 1 inch wheels and small cones. The speed with one of these would prob...

I got a cordless impact driver. Where have I been?

Yeah my first battery impact was like a AH ha moment, an epiphany. It literally makes a ratchet obselete. I use my new milwaukke m12 in so many spots because its so compact and lightweight. No adapters either because of the 3/8ths anvil on the end.
