A 5x is not the same as the 500. Here is an 1894 catalog page of the 0000,100-500 models. 500 should have jaws of 6-1/8 inches. Is that what you measure?

So your Charles Parker vise was made after the company was bought by Union Mfg in 1957 and mfg was moved to New Britain, CT, from Meriden CT. Not sure how long after 1957 that they continued. I do have pieces of a 1963 catalog. Your vise is the Eclipse model line, 973-1/2A, 3.5 inch jaws...

Here is an 1895 copy of the 0000,100-600 series. I think this version started in the late 1870s. Catalog entries seem to end in 1917. Have a Catalog page showing progression of the different series. 300 changed to Vulcan D then to Trojan 705 to Eclipse 105 to Eclipse 954.5. They had...

Here is an 1891 Massey Catalog page showing what looks like this vise. Later catalog pages show the four posts where the fixed tower is bolted to the base but I cannot tell if it becomes one piece and the bolt cylinder shapes are just part of the 1 piece design. Dave.

Millers Falls merged/bought Goodell Pratt in Feb 1931. Their first combined catalog was 1935. They deleted the Goodell Pratt name in 1949.

In Canada "Made in England" is clearly part of the casting and quite visible, not a label, no hiding underneath. Not sure what the COO requirements were at the time in USA. In the Sears US catalogs, eventually "Made in USA" was a valuable reference. Their catalogs even referenced items as...

Jayman17 - in Canada I have seen that Craftsman vise model/design but it says "Made in England". Not sure who in England. Who do we think made this in USA?

Ranger08 - the photo of the red vise with the swivel base has patent numbers on the swivel handles which lead to C&J Hampton (Record) but I think the base was added based on the colour difference. First time this design showed up with a swivel. Have Woden, Paramo, Records and Parkinsons here...

I see these "Made in England" vises here in Ontario but cannot find out who in England made them. Perhaps there was a label that is long gone. It has a raised up diamond shape on the front of the moving jaw and a raised up rib in the centre running up over the moving jaw and down the back of...

Here is the older version (yr 1897) of the 370-375 with the 6-1/4 inch wide jaw for the Parker 375. Not sure how the other models in this group changed in 1919, but now you have both versions. Dave.

So from 1895 to 1918 the Parker Victor 375 was fixed base with swivel rear jaw and 6-1/4 wide jaws (23 yrs). In 1919 catalog jaw width was reduced to 6 inches. I am still looking but in the late 1930s or early 1940s the models 370-375 appear to be eliminated (approx 20yrs). The swivel base...

PierceA - the 375 model has been 6-1/4 inch jaw width up to 1918. In 1919 and beyond it was changed to 6 inch jaw width. I have catalog pages in 1895 showing the 370-375 swivel jaw fixed base vises (6-1/4 jaw width on the 375). Dave
