Badger-Powhatan 2.5 Gallon Water Fire Extinguisher - Any use?

Firewatch bottle for hotwork, welding and grinding. I was pricing some recently and they're not cheap. IIRC, around $150 per. Funny story (to me), back in high school in the 70s, a friend 'acquired' one from somewhere, and a group of us would drive around on Friday evenings with one fully...

    Bench top teardown tray?

I use a pan I got from a local auto parts store years ago. It's like a baking pan in construction, but at least 2' x 3'. I think it was marketed as a drip tray/pan.

Shop fan made from AC unit fan

The label should specify. Not my motor but from www: My motor came from an old hvac air handler and I used it and the squirrel cage blower wheel to fab a blower for my shop. I've got some details on what I did in my thread titled: Re-purposing HVAC Blower; Need Some Help It may help you...

Shop fan made from AC unit fan

Some ECM can be run on either 120v or 240v. It's a matter of determining what pins to provide control power to.

    reciprocating mechanisms

That would make for a sucky day. I usually set them on the tailgate of my truck to take advantage of the bedliner's 'warmth.'

    Pivoting mailbox build

Aahh. The wheels of the bureaucratic machine turn slooowwly. Good build thread. Thanks for resurfacing it and updating it. I live on a small private road with a small court at our end of the road. It's probably not up to the size/design standards and my mailman is able to turn around if he...

Giant brass acorn nuts, any ideas what they're for?

IDK. Possibly to cap a valve? Reminds me of valve caps for nuclear valves, though these are smaller.

I need this exact draw latch

$55.69. Wow! How's it attached to the smoker door? Assuming it's screwed/bolted/riveted through the 2 holes in the flat base, is there any chance you could make an 'adapter' (piece of flat stock) that would attach to the existing door mounting point and mount a different but similar draw...

    Evolution saw s355mcs

I've had one for about 2 years. Small time fabricator. Works as advertised. Accurate miter cuts. Not smart enough to define a cold saw, so there's that. Makes noise but I wear ear plugs when cutting. Makes chips but I built a stand with side and back shields and a collection chute so it's...

    Garage/office, shop wiring

Thanks. Not doubting the 'requirement' but I sort of have an issue having a requirement for a specific future electrical load to be accomodated up front, regardless of current need or desire. Understand it's always cheapest to do anything upfront, however IMO, that seems like overreach.

Would you expound on that requirement, and if you don't object, what city?

    Digital angle gauge recommendations

I've got the klein. Got it as a gift. Works as advertised. Useful for bending on a press brake. The battery lid is held on by a small screw and I've started removing batteries in electronic tools such as this (voltmeters, contact testers, etc.) due to battery leakage. Only issue I've had was...

Vintage Craftsman Table Saw not Raising or Lowering Blade

Don't have mine in front of me anymore as it's the son-in-law's now. The raise and lower operation was normally pretty smooth and did not take much effort turning the handwheel to effect some change. I'm in agreement that something is bent, bound, goobered, corroded up. Pretty sure that...

Have a shop? Tell me your thoughts

I envy you as a clean sheet design is always best. Maybe I'm looking at your dilemma differently, but I'd consider using much of the upper part of that right wall for storage, as in maybe shelving/pallet racking, so I'd figure in the appropriate width to support its placement. I think that...

    Copper welding backer

The previous owner of my house left behind various metal scraps, to include a small strip of 1" x 1/8" copper flat bar and some copper pipe pressed flat that worked initially when I was starting out. However, I had some stainless projects to do, so I went the bougie way and bought a couple...

    Cutting torch cart.

I do like that exhaust pipe clamp. I've added it to my list of tools to make.

    Cutting torch cart.

You might try some pieces of angle and cradle and clamp each of the two main tube joints to get some tacks on them. It should cause the third tube to align itself and tack it too.

7018 AC rod and Lincoln Welder on oilfield pipe

Beg to differ. The "1" in the E7018 designation indicates that this electrode is suitable for all welding positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.

    On-Line Welding course

As I sit here wait for some welds to cool, I had some additional thoughts. One of the most valuable lessons I learned on my welding journey was: How to recognize, and then fix a bad weld. Both adjust the settings, positioning, fit up, technique, blah blah blah, for the next weld, but more...
