28 or 26' attic/storage truss, how much room for storage???(PICS)

A bit more specifics? A number of designs have been discussed here... In mine, I've got 8 foot from floor to the cross tie that would make up the ceiling, in the center 12' space. 30 foot wide overall, trusses are 10ft on center (one bay is 12..) across a 42 foot length. From the 12x8...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

not sure - I'm not an SO expert, and there was nothing obvious on it at this stage in it's life...and I haven't tried to look closer yet.

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Rescued these ($50 including the tools in them and a couple of bags of others - the box of a few hundred clecos was worth the price of admission...) back in May, finally got them sorted through and emptied (and tucked away for later review) earlier this month... That top chest is -seriously-...

    exchanging cylinders? nitrogen for argon/co2?

all depends on your gas supplier. honestly, though, bottles aren't -that- expensive.....and you can trade them up later. so buy the size you can afford now, and next time you fill it (or a few times from now) trade up a size. if you find you can't really afford the initial investment, most...

    Milton V o ring replacement?

true - but if I'm going to give up the coupler I'm going to consider the Milton experiment failed. If they don't offer service parts.... (at $8 + $6 shipping, it ain't cheap) Definitely not going to replace the 15 or so couplers floating around the rest of the shop with them at this rate...

    Milton V o ring replacement?

Anyone know where to get replacement o rings for Milton V couplers? I've been running one as an experiment in the shop (since 2/11) and it's been puking air for the past few months. The o ring inside is damaged. Can't find a spec or part number any where. Nothing in my o ring kits fits...

    Portable full rise car lift

Depends on how you define "portable" and "full rise" :) A few options - single post "portable" lifts, and full rise scissor lifts. Mohawk has a scissor - http://www.mohawklifts.com/wp/consumer/browse-lifts/scissor-lifts/usl-6000/ 6k weight limit and over $5k last time I priced one. 72" to...

GJ Giveaway: 10 Gearwrench 120XP ratchets!

I'd love to get my hands on the new gearwrench ratchets - hadn't realized they were making them. I've got 3 of their torque wrenches - really happy with them, good price and a quality tool. And a few dozen regular gearwrenches. ;) here's one of my tool reviews on GJ...

    More compressed air system?

I can't provide a conversion, but keep in mind that typically you don't have your line pressure set at the peak pressure that your pump shuts off at. At least in a home/small shop. Large site air installations would be different, but you'd reduce the line pressure to a working pressure in...

    Black Pipe or Rapid Air

I just picked up a roll of blue pex ($25 100 feet) and used Gator Bite (more or less the same type of connection that Rapid and the like use) fittings available at the same big box store I got the pex from. (though they stopped selling blue lately, it's still easy to come by). pex doesn't have...

28 or 26' attic/storage truss, how much room for storage???(PICS)

thread hijack - unless you have one - pics, details? I've had crummy luck finding something affordable to do the 13-14ft lift I need to get to mine (but I've got a nice place for it, where the stairs turn left)

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

To start with the different answers - IMO, that's not entirely true. Your compressor -tank- will output air at a much higher CFM than your compressor -pump- can. That's why we have tanks (and why we dont use rotary screws. ;-) ) So, if you need to run that 25scfm impact wrench you CAN run it...

    building price

that's about 1/3 of the price for a 40x60 (with slab and site prep) down here in florida. my 30x42 was about 40k before I added the massive attic trusses (actually didn't add much) and the attic floor and stairs (added 6k). (well, 2007 numbers, anyway)

Carolina Transmission lift - rebuild kit help?

not sure - it's dumping oil out around the bottom, so I assume pump. Lifts and holds height (at least for the short term), but slower than it should, and obviously doesnt want to reach full height since it's not holding it's oil.... :)

Carolina Transmission lift - rebuild kit help?

easier said than done when it's an hour drive one way the hydraulic shop that isn't open on weekends. :) but yeah, it's looking like that will be what I'll have to do. Just hate to have it disassembled for weeks chasing down parts (..because it usually means it never gets reassembled, just...

What tools have you left behind........

in the few years that I worked in a sunroof shop we'd lose a number of bits and pieces - sockets, extensions, the occasional ratchet, probably hundreds of 1/8" blade screwdrivers I swear, the usual misc. Probably more than a typical mechanic since the shop owns the tools, not us...so less...
