For Those with a 4-Post Lift, How Do You Store Your Ramps?

Mine are aluminum (therefore this old man can "handle them") the ramps sit in the space between the "runways" below the back end of the car. (perfect length for the space). . The casters hang on the wall (out of the way).. I only used them to move the lift to it's final home after I assembled...

2 Post Lift to store vintage car

I have a 4 post lift. I opted for the 4 post because I hate laying on the ground.. or more accurately I believe @ my age I look like a drunk Manatee rolling around on the floor struggling to get up.. a 2 post lift would require me to get down (and up) to set the arms. I have a rolling jack...

Tool Brands you cannot stand . . .

Dislikes / Disappointments: Bosch, I paid big $$ for a Bosch orbital sander, it was fine at first.. except over time the velcro that holds the sand paper / mesh loses it's grip, throwing the disc around my shop requiring a (hard to find) $10 replacement velcro pad.. after buying 3 of these...

    Tool brands and buying habits

I am a hobbiest, I have seen and used Snap-On tools they are premium quality, but not being a professional, the Snap-on truck does not stop at my house.. and w/o the need for superior priced tools I don't own anything made by Snap-On. For years I was >95% Craftsman. good & easy to implement...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

After finishing a brake job, then dumping out my tray of 3/8" sockets, picked 'em up and organized 'em.. then since I had the organize it bug.. converted my rolling cart to carry my impact wrenches, impact sockets, and all the fancy brake job tools I own. Still organizing: Rearranged my...

    Buying Tools Hindsight

Fortunately I had one of these in the toolbox: When it was time to replace the plugs in the '03 Vette, this was the only thing I had that allowed me to get the rearmost Drivers side plug with any leverage... w/o removing the master cylinder. I wouldn't use this 'ratchet' to gronk on anything...

    Buying Tools Hindsight

Story time.. about 35 years ago I bought my (3 or 4 YO) son a cheap $4 socket set.. he took pride in it and took care of it.. Just like Dad he cleaned his tools after we used them together, and put them away. For his 5th Birthday I bought him a Craftsman $100 +or- socket set in one of those...

    Buying Tools Hindsight

I did the brakes on my car today, and it reminded me of this story.... A couple of years ago I was doing the brakes on my car, decided to do it right I needed to buy a Disc Brake Pad and Caliper Service Tool Kit (to rotate the caliper piston while compressing it), so I bought the kit.. using it...

Look Out Milwaukee Here Comes Bosch

I spent big $$ on a Bosch orbital (5") sander several years ago .. it wears thru the "velcro" pads pretty quickly.. I bought a few new pads on Amazon for $10 each.., and every 6 months or so, I swapped 'em out when it throws the sanding disc around my shop... Then I noticed HFT had their "Bauer"...

Well, here's a comparison nobody needs: Kobalt vs. USA Craftsman wrenches

9mm.. I needed it to remove and install a new rear window in my F150. The clearance was tight, a ratchet would NOT fit.. but a 9MM gear wrench 1 or 2 clicks at a time and I was in business.
