good typical work bench height for standing

When I was building my bench I read that the ideal height should be just a bit taller than ones belly button. I tried it and it's actually been perfect for most projects. I'm 5' 11" and I built my bench at 42".

    Ford COE Kustom

I think you need to chop one of your extra cabs the exact same way and sell it to me. Best thread going, look forward to seeing more progress.

    Adjustable welding/shop table

I've not yet had to add any lube to the legs and it still works smoothly. So far I haven't had any load on the table that the drill couldn't handle, if necessary a standard ratchet and socket will operate the table without issue, just takes a little longer.

    Adjustable welding/shop table

It has 1-1/2" overhang right now which is ok most the time but I wish it was closer to 2-1/2" - 3". The corners are where I have the biggest issue, it's only 1/2" overhang where the legs connect.

    Adjustable welding/shop table

Your exactly right with the acme thread vs. all thread. I made a version of this leg using standard all thread to test the design and within just a few cycles the edges of the threads were like razor blades. I have to say I'm using this table far more than I thought I would and consider it...

    Adjustable welding/shop table

OK guys, Let me first apologize for being MIA on this for so long. Here is a rough drawing I made that will hopefully answer most of the questions on the design of the legs. Not pictured but necessary (in my opinion) is a large fender washer between the underside nut and the "plate" at the top...

Help me hang my new Man Cave Item

This is your best option, it's called Easy Bar or a French cleat. It is brutally strong and will not let your artwork tilt out like a wire will and it only has a 3/16" profile. I install artwork for a living and as great as it would be to hit a stud the reality is you cannot let stud location...

    TIG Welding Table Height

I recently built a table to solve this problem, best work table I've ever had. Here's a link to it. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=281866&highlight=Adjustable+welding+table

Need to move my Lathe to my home Has to come out of a basement.

I move a lot of large heavy stuff like this. If it were me I would strip it down as much as possible including removal from base. Strap it to an appliance dolly and with two guys on the bottom to lift and push each step and one or two guys at the top to control and pull. It won't be fun but it's...

Lathe tooling Storage Ideas wanted please.

X2 - one of the goriest pictures I ever had the displeasure of seeing was a guy that got caught in a large lathe, lets just say there wasn't much left above the chest.

Removing bedrooms for a taller garage?

the issue with raising the roof is far more extensive than just relocating a beam, when you remove the joists for the second story floors you must in turn convert the exterior load bearing walls from 2x4 to 2x6. That's just some of the structure issues, you also have to deal with the electrical...

My retro Speed Shop sign build

This is very cool! I love things that are one off that no one else has. Is it possible to back light the red dots on the hub cap?

Removing bedrooms for a taller garage?

Hard to say, different codes for different regions. Do you have a basement? One limiting factor to this idea is making sure you do not go below street level grade without considering adding a drainage system.

Removing bedrooms for a taller garage?

Not sure how serious you really are but I would consider ripping out the concrete and removing the grade to get the height needed. Removing the above structure is going to create more headaches than it's worth I.M.O.

    Roll-a-round cutoff rack

It's funny you say that, that's why I put those small cross rails on so I can mount some drawer slides. I still really like Astroracers idea for the small stuff with the buckets being up high and tilted so you can see what's in them.

What Does Your Upper Storage Look Like?

I posted these a long time ago with the exception of the last one which is most recent. Shows the evolution from disaster to functional. I love having the upper cabinets but you can tend to forget what you in them.

    Roll-a-round cutoff rack

I like it, nice job! The only thing I might change is replacing the wood with expanded metal so you don't get a build up of dust and metal debris. That's a great way to store the really small stuff. I finally built a rack for mine and imposed a rule on myself that if it is too small for the...

Vise and Grinder stands. I'm looking for ideas on how to use several in limited space

So here is a picture of the same vise in the very first post on page one and the back story to these vise's is that they are custom built by a man named Dan Woods. This particular vise belongs to custom car and bike builder Cole Foster. The table below was offered to me at one time for purchase...

    f150skidoo's One Ton Table Build

After looking at more closely it looks like it is only hanging up at the front in which case it looks like your on the right path. I think you could just cut out the side of the angle and it would never be seen and still be structurally sound.
