Drives - Sandman doesn't play with any anvils under 500#. I believe the one in the pic is 700# if it is the one he told me about a while back. Nice German vise.

Jrobb - You are correct I was wrong on the weight. The columbian is the light one. I went out and looked it over and I still maintain it is near the bottom for a big vise in my opinion. You can however still order parts and I remember mine was missing the nut and I got one for it about 6 years...

Joe - I have a Morgan 80 just like the one you saw. They are a very cheesey vise in my opinion and weigh less than 150#. If its cheap enough though.....

Meatsis- $ 350 :dunno:and you wanted to wait to go!!! You should be arrested! I have been down that road with a 500# anvil. Waited...

Haven't been on here in a while. A reed 109 with 3 bolt pattern is 290# and the 4 bolt hold down is 297#. Yes I did buy the Reed in Pittsburgh. Some think the price is crazy. I went to a sale recently and a big 8" Prentiss brought 1500. The buyer was happy to get it and put it in his blacksmith...

I went through all my hollands literature and did not find a 25H hollands listed. I think the above literature is what I scanned in a few years ago. Somewhere on this thread are several pages I put up of a really old Hollands catalog that showed their line of hollands vises including Keystone...

Meatsis - Very nice find on the big Athol. You should buy a powerball ticket! I only know of 4 of these out there. They are a well made heavy vise. The RR used them from what I have found. Here are some pics of one I have that is missing the base and another I am working on acquiring on a RR...

Glad you guys liked the photos. When I get home this week I will get better ones. There are 245 vises in the trailer counting the blacksmith vises. I have another 25 big ones on my big table and I beam display and I figure 30 in my shop that are stored. I have at least 10 more we use in the...

I moved most of my loose vises into a semi trailer a few weeks ago. I sorted them by make. Here are some pics. I have better pics but could not get them uploaded. The ones on the floor are eight inchers. Real hard to take a good pic because they are double stacked.

No need to come at night but if you do the two mastiff dogs would be the first problem... They would lick you to death. They are big enough to change a tire on a moving car but just want some attention:lol_hitti You vise addicts all live too far away anyway because I have yet to have any real...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

An 8 inch leg vise IS very hard to find. I have 5 but I looked for many years to get the first one. They just do not show up. At auctions I have been to lately with blacksmith tools, $1000 is no problem for it. It only takes two that have to have it and that stuff is real hot right now at sales...

Sandman - I really like the reed vise but you committed a cardinal sin there is no pop can(Universal Measuring Device...UMD) in any of you photos:shocking: Looks like a reed 208 on a big azz stand. Very inpressive!!
