    Simple catch basin drain?

I live in a northern state and keep my garage at about 40 degrees all winter. Since my floor is sloped out I get a nice big puddle just being the garage door every winter. Any reason I can't just put a drain basin in the middle of the garage near the door? Something with drain holes in the...

Garage door has R10, worth adding more?

The attic is first on the list. I'm making a parts list and taking a few days off to do it all, just wanted to make sure I have all the parts to utilize my time. I already have attic insulation and new door seals figured out. Walls are 2x6 so r19 there. Doesn't sound like garage door is worth...

Garage door has R10, worth adding more?

Good point! Minnesota, so -40 to 110 degrees. North facing garage opening, 20x42 (tandem). Infloor heating but only in the back 20x20 portion. It takes a long time to heat up but it's infloor and only 1/2 the garage. The ceiling is a mix of R40 and r19. I'm going to address the r19 part but it...

Garage door has R10, worth adding more?

I have a 16x8 DoorLink 3610 which appears to have R10.25. Is it worth adding more insulation to this door, like a foil type? It is metal backed already with horizontal bracing.

    Garage fume exhaust

Not normally. Unless I'm setting the timing or trying to diagnose something I'm imagining opening the overhead door, hitting the 5 minute timer button, starting the car and being out in a couple of minutes. If the garage wasn't 40 feet deep most of the fumes would just go outside.

    Garage fume exhaust

I wasn't doing a great job of clarifying, I would definitely do duct work between the gable fan and the vents, it wouldn't be open to the attic. I did see one brand that has temp activated fire doors, but I want to put the fan at the gable not the ceiling as pulling air works better than...

    Garage fume exhaust

Thanks for the response. To clarify, I want to put the fan in the attic, but it would be pulling it from the garage and pushing it outside near the peak of the attic, out a gable vent. Is this still a problem? I will check for negative pressure tomorrow. It's an old car and when I start it I...

    Garage fume exhaust

I have a tandem 4 car garage and in my back stall is where I keep my older project car. When I start the car I always open the garage overhead and usually a window on the opposite side of the garage. But due to there being about 20' behind the car and the fact the car has side exhaust, one of...
