    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

I have never seen this much interest--and it's great!!!!!!!!! As a sentimental, guy and a Johnson (no relation) I think is is great that you could, and would rework the shop into a work of art. Most folks would have ran a dozer through it and hauled it off. Thanks for bring the old gal back to...

Hansen vs. The New Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Pro Socket Trays

I ordered the metric ones on line because I went to two stores and they only had SAE size, which I bought there. Some sockets have weird holes and do not fit down all the way on the pegs, oh well, better than what I had. Mike

    Finally bought a lift!

Congrats on a useful purchase. I hope to get one this year. I had a cathedral ceiling on one bay with 16 ft. height at the center of ceiling and 9 ft. walls 8/12 pitch. I had the garage door runners lifted at roof angle to allow the door to be up in hot weather while vehicle is on the lift. Mike

    Refinishing Large Cabinets--Help Wanted!

I would opt for the new skins. You can rip Birch or knotty pine 1/4" plywood to cover the styles and rails of the cabinets and reskin or replace the doors. You can stain the new wood to match the walls, painting is somewhat easier and probable cheaper. If I were to paint, I would either use an...

    Garage exhaust evacuation system

At auto mech. school. we used the metal flex hose with no fan. the exhaust pressure was sufficient to push the fumes through the pipe. I can't tell you about what snowmobiles would need. but I think the inline blower is a sure cure. Don't see too many snowmobiles around this part of N.Carolina...

Materials for garage ceiling--Metal VS 4x8 panels

I am working up some figures for the shop ceiling. If I put up 4x8 panels (OSB. of plywood I naturally have to paint. One coat of oil base primer, and two coats of paint, is normally what it takes to look good. I have ck'ed with a roofing contractor about installing the roofing tin on the...

Foam insulation in a metal building

It priced out too high for me. plus as another G/J person pointed it is also flammable, so you need to cover it with something to make it safer to be around. Commericial kits/spray units are available but just as expensive as having a pro do the job. later, Mike

    Garage Stereo Systems

Will cut down an old console TV/radio/and 8 track unit that I bought in early 80's to go in the new shop I am working on. Have used low cost receivers and speakers in 4 corners in old shop.
