Anyone got tips on vetting Amazon sellers?

If Amazon ships it, they will send you whichever is most convenient for them. No guarantee that it was supplied by the seller you bought from or not. Don’t buy anything subject to counterfeiting, because you can’t control if you are getting the real thing or not. Spend your money with someone...

The style I can get locally go from 1/2 to 1.5”. I have seen a deeper kind, but they were old, I don’t know if they are available.

    Beacon Morris BRT-045 Not Working

Maybe, but the guy should be able to say “needs a new board, probably should buy a new one from me.” If so, it’s probably obvious under visible inspection, and could be an easy fix.

    Why doesn’t the snow melt?

Walked across a college campus tonight right after a light snow. They put so much salt down the snow was all melted. Except there were a few squares where the snow had not melted. There’s no way the salt tractor could have done that. So what’s the difference? There are some areas in that...

Can I run deeper posts and screw boards to hold the fill for building a pole barn on a slope?

You'd be better off building a wall, either out of block or poured concrete. You can then backfill. Lots of barns got built like that (with rubble stone walls, but same idea()

    Some Questions On Flooring

It was cheap, it’s flatter than plywood, and is softer under foot. Other than the problem with water damage, not holding nails and generally falling apart if anything happens to it, it is a perfect underlayment. Last time I had to deal with it, we cut it and the subfloor out in strips...

Poor box planning.... extension option I'm overlooking?

use an adjustable mudr 300.14 has the answers to your question. Wires need to be 6" from where they enter the box to where they're spliced or connected, and because your opening is less than 8" square, they need to extend at least 3" out the front. that doesn't apply to conductors that...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

A pair of lamps, one on the front left, one on front right go a long way to getting rid of those sorts of shadows. Spindle lights are usually better, but two lights are much easier to set up.

Cheap 2ton floor jack cylinder question

Out the end of the cylinder, making a mess. Generally the person pumping the jack notices and stops. if they don't, welll, they make a bigger mess. Either way, the jack isn't over extended, and because the cylinder is full to its normal maximum, the load can be lowered.

Solar Generator Output with a Battery Tender

It sounds like the battery tender jr is detecting that the battery doesn't need attention and going to sleep, expecting to wake up in a while and check again. The battery back sees the draw is below its threshold, so it turns itself off. Then the BT Jr can't wake up and tend to the battery...

3/4 and 1 inch conduit lock ring wrench

I keep a short 3/8" punch in my pouch. use it on lockrings and knockouts. Short, because it fits in tighter spots, and is lighter. Still use a screwdriver when I need the reach, though.

Point to point wireless. One radio at house, one at the barn. I have had good luck with ubiquiti stuff. You can get a pair preconfigured as a bridge for about $200.

Ask some of the local shops who did their lifts, and if they were happy with the results. If you have a particular brand or two in mind, ask them.

    Main bedroom addition

In the mid 80s, my parents built a wood foundation super insulated house — double stud wall, with fiberglass in the stud bays, the space between was 32 inche wide roll, going vertically, and over the edge to the attic, where it was covered by the blown insulation. R40 walls. 80ish ceiling. Full...

    Surface Mount Electrical questions

Stranded wire is harder to terminate on devices that want a wire wrapped around a screw. In 12 and 14 AWG wire, solid is easier to work with if you're working alone, because it can often be pushed through conduit that's short and straight enough, which is much faster than a fish tape. Solid...

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

In the IT world, there's a concept of computer systems as either pet or cattle -- are they a special snowflake or interchangeable? Having stuff that can be easily duplicated, destroyed, recreated, etc by automation makes running it cheaper, faster, more reliable, and is basically required where...
