How did Snap On become the standard?

https://www.asme.org/ That's the real standard that every tool brand is compared to, everything else is users comparing fit, finish, and feel non of which is actually measured or compared to anything. Idk how many times I have seen people on this site say "strength isn't a good indicator of...

Pistol grip pliers for thoughts. Yes or no?

Do you need them? No.... are they a valuable addition to your box for the same price as a case of beer? YES! If someone made an entire pistol grip plyer set i would buy it because I find them that handy and comfortable.

How did Snap On become the standard?

A really good friend of mine is a Granger rep here in the DFW and he has told me HF has stolen most of his industrial tool/tool box business. He said he has to focus on pushing tools HF doesn’t offer like Milwaukee everything.

Pistol grip pliers for thoughts. Yes or no?

I have the 2 Icon ones you posted and I absolutely love them. I work on cars daily and find tons of uses for them. The best part about the pistol grip is you can put more pressure on them if needed. But the pistol grip also puts you in a more natural position when reaching way in to grab...

Can you have too much torque reversing a bolt out? If you do what happens?

I posted this today and literally went outside and broke a bolt, luckily it was on a car i was scrapping. It was a stud holding the converter to the exhaust manifold on a 08 Pontiac G6 3.6.

Can you have too much torque reversing a bolt out? If you do what happens?

You need to move states... Down here in Texas I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I broke a bolt.

    Jigsaw or sabre saw

I thought Cutawl was just the brand. My grandfather had one of these tools and he referred to it as a rotary jigsaw. It was a cool saw for sure!

New Vim 1/4 Comfort Grip ratchets

They could be, but it dosen't matter because they dont have the name behind them. Literally SO could start knocking all the quality out of their hand tools and people will still buy them because the brand "is the best". No different then the current Toyota Tundras.

    Flex head socket wrenches...

That's all true. I dont have a set currently and it isn't a issue. These might be in the same boat as double offset boxed end wrenches in 2026.. The double offset boxend wrenches seem to be a solution looking for a problem nowadays.

    Flex head socket wrenches...

When I was a kid my dad had mostly all Proto tools in his box. The set of wrenches that were my favorite to use were the flex head socket wrenches! It looks like hardly anyone makes these anymore outside of SO, Williams, and Proto. Does nobody use these style of wrenches anymore? If I remember...

People who buy tools they will never use

25 years ago I worked in my uncle's shop and he had this rule where he would let you borrow anything once, the second time you now owned it and he would deduct it from your check. He was a good guy. He also convinced me I had a NAPA account for tools when I was 14 but when I graduated high...

Don't worry nothing has changed about those canteens since then! Luckily now they issue you a "camel back" canteen which imo was a ***** to clean. The few guys that still carry the old style canteens into the field usually piss in them..

    Reorganizing your drawers...

Its not about the mileage it is the hours. He use to store them all in the "on" position so they would idle in the drawer all day and night... luckily now he switched them all to "off", hopefully he didn't wait to long.
