snap on has repair kits for just the ratchet part. If that's all he took apart then just find a snap on dealer and buy it from him. If he took it apart farther then just the ratcheting mechanism it might just be easier buying another one.

    Selling moral question

X2 I always tell people that I will hold it for a deposit for a limited time but if there is not some cash up front then it is fair game for someone who does. I wouldn't expect anything less if I was the one trying to buy an item. There are way to many no show calls not to.

The only advantage of having snap on over starrett is that the snap on ones are warrantied. If you break a starrett you have to buy a new one.

    Insulating a finished garage

I guess if it's fully finished I would just buy new drywall but if it's just taped, It should come off pretty easy. Mine did and the (19) 10 foot panels I reused saved me some coin. I think it turned out alright.

How do you store your tie-downs and ratchets?

I have mine coiled up and put in an ice cream bucket that fits under the seat of my truck. Works for me and keeps them from getting tangled up in a big mess.

    Insulating a finished garage

I pulled all my drywall down and insulated it with r 15. It also gives you the opportunity to run any wiring you want to add at the same time. I was actually able to reuse my drywall. It just took some extra mud when finishing it.
